App Update: ClearCam update and price drop

ON SALE until iOS4.1 is released sometime this week with support for *** CAMERA ROLL PLACES/GPS *** and 3G phones - A ClearCam exclusive.

ClearCam has just had it priced halved until iOS 4.1 hits the streets, which should be in a day or two, and now supports the following...

New Features (available only with iOS4.1):

  • Camera Roll Places support (GPS/EXIF)
  • 3G Phone support

Enhancements (iOS4.0+):

  • Better Enhanced Mode algorithms
  • Improved stability

In addition to the above new features there are a number of bug fixes, including the very annoying orientation bug, where landscape photos are saved as portrait.

That sucks... I LITERALLY bought it last night. Oh well, it's only $1 lost anyhow :(

Ditto - just bought it a week ago. Last update was crashing my phone (4) until I did a hard shut down and restart. Now all is well.

Cody and TimR - Sorry the app went on sale like that just after you bought it. I know how annoying that can be. I actually didn't expect our update to go through until after iOS4.1 was approved, so when it did I felt compelled to put it on sale until the new features could be utilized. Regarding the crashing, I hate to hear that anybody is seeing that. We spend a lot of time focusing on the stability of the app. No better way to miss a moment than have the camera app not work. That's priority number 1 for ClearCam. I'm was very relieved when Apple notified me that they fixed the bug report I filed regarding the stability issues on the 3G in iOS4.1. Please let me know if you see any crashing again. You can email me at twoteethtech at gmail.com.

Thanks and hope you enjoy the updates.

Hi Josh,

I just encountered a bug in clearcam, if i take a picture via quick mode and in landscape orientation the resulting picture is a mirror image of the subject.

Regards,

Sasuke

Hi Sasuke,

Glad to hear it, thanks for letting me know. Just wrapped up the final touches on another update that includes support for the iPod Touch. I'm really happy with the performance on that device. It is much needed with the low resolution camera it has.

Thanks,
Josh

All my ClearCam photos appear as mirror images whether taken as portrait or landscape mode. Very annoying if your photo includes text. Any idea how to fix this?

Hi AJM - Is this for images saved to the camera roll, or thumbnails in the queue? And which device/OS are you running? I've never seen this on a released version of ClearCam although one user reported this happening until upgrading to 4.1.

Thanks,
Josh

I have iPhone 3GS and have os4. This is images saved on Camera Roll

Is it possible for you to upgrade to 4.1 and try it? You'll get some nice benefits from that anyway. It uses a different API for saving. Does this occur for all orientations? Upright, upside-down, landscape, etc? I'll see if I can reproduce it.

Thanks for the info.

I have not been able to duplicate this using a 3GS running iOS4.0 (build 8A293). I tried both enhanced and quick shot images and everything seems to save to the camera roll properly. The only other time I've heard of this was in this very same thread and the user was able to resolve the issue by upgrading to 4.1. If you aren't on a jailbroken device, I'd recommend you do the same. if you send me an email to twoteethtech at gmail.com with one of the mirrored pictures attached I can dig into the EXIF information and try to see if I can tell what is going on. Sorry for the trouble!

Thanks Josh,
Upgrading to 4.1 has resolved the problem.
