Lomo Ho, another square format, low-res app

Lomo Ho is a new square format Lomo app which is described as "a fast, easy-to-use photo editor for your iPhone", with...

  • 17 'Basic' Filters including - Black and White, Sepia, Darker, Lighter and Brighter filters.
  • 10 'Grey Colour' Filters - which are a custom designed style, turning your photos to black and white with unique colour bursts/light enhancements.
  • 17 'Leaks' including - red, orange, yellow, pink, green and blue light leaks for your photos.
  • 13 'Colours' Filters - which give your photos a very retro vibe to them.
  • 13 different styles of borders.

Whilst, like many of todays apps, the interface is clean, simple and easy to use, this app is badly let down by its pathetic output size of just 540 x 540 pixels, which today is just not good enough for any app, free or otherwise, and Lomo Ho is not free.

If the developers are reading this post, then my advise is improve your app (both resolution and filters), and if your a fan of Lomo apps and are thinking about buying this app, then I would suggest spending your $ £ € elsewhere.

what is going on with the output resolution? what kind of people are making these apps? the output resolution is a CORE FUNCTIONALITY of ANY photo app so i really dont understand how people can overlook this. It is like building a car and forgetting to put the wheels on. i'm not a programmer but I'm guessing that all it would take would be to add an extra line of code to the app that tells it to export at full resolution. it blows my mind that someone would go to all the trouble ofmaking an app, tweaking it, testing it, submitting it to the app store, waiting for the release and spend weeks if not months building it and then forgetting about one of its main functions - exporting at high res. its crazy!!! SHAME on the developers.

It depends on how you build it and what code needs to be used as a result.

What I would say is that there are a lot of iphonography apps out there not designed by photographers or indeed designed with photographers in mind.
