Streetmate, the B&W camera replacement app

"Streetmate is black and white street photography camera. What you shoot is what you get as a final image — exactly like on classic rangefinder film camera", and for a limited time is available for FREE.

"Streetmate is a simple and powerful black and white photography tool for people who love shooting great moments and creative photos. Streetmate is focused entirely on photography and not on photo editing and image tweaking. There is no distraction between shoots, you set your style for final images and begin shooting." - App Developer

Coming to iOS5 as a free update to all Streetmate users:

  • Much Faster processing and image development
• Advanced sharing options, ability to create sets and albums on Facebook and Flickr
  • Volume-up button as a shutter release ;)
  • Location services and map
  • iCloud support

Just downloaded this app - it is excellent! Love the three prime lenses and image output. Thanks for the heads up, Glyn!

Besides the 3 lenses I don't see how this is any different than any other app that makes black & white images.

Is there a camera app that has a B&W preview image in the 'viewfinder'?

I'm hoping for a what you see is what you get in B&W. That would be excellent!

Streetmate produces some great B&W images out of the box, but could do with two things to make it a really, really good app:

(1) stability - it crashes a lot for me if you take more than three images in quick succession. I'm glad to see the processing time is on the list of improvements
(2) better navigation from the image viewer - it takes 3 clicks to get back to the camera, meaning you can often lose that 'decisive' moment. I contacted the developer about this, it might just sneek into the next release!

Anyhow, thats just me. Your mileage may vary.

I have used this app since it came out and love it. The great thing about this is that the app saves straight to the camera roll.

I really love the CoolGray.

this app is crashed a lot and you have to close all the active app before use this app.
However, this app can produce great black and white photo...
worth to try while it is free!

I guess it was free for an EXTREMELY limited amount of time because 3 days later they are charging again :-(

Love the app. but the extra step needed to save the shot to your camera roll is a real drag.
