AutoStitch Panorama gets a major update, with in-app camera

AutoStitch Panorama, which is my number one app for creating panoramic photos on my iPhone, has just been updated. Described by developer Cloudburst Research as a major update, version 4.0 adds the following new features:

  • AutoStitch now has an in-app camera.
  • You can still use any other camera app if you prefer. We provide a fast new interface to select images for stitching.
  • My Panoramas keeps track of the source photos for each panorama and allows for easy re-stitching, re-cropping, export, and deletion.
  • Panoramas now include geolocation data.
  • PhotoAppLink support to send panoramas to other apps.
  • iOS 5 compatible.

App Store Link: AutoStitch; Price: £1.49/$1.99/€1.59

Update is great, but they completely botched the app name on the springboard/home screen. They need to rename the app back too "AutoStitch" because right now it displays as "AutoS...rama" -- and that's just ugly and lazy.

They're the hardest group of developers to get in-touch with too, I've sent them emails and Tweets in the past and never once got a reply :/

This is my favorite pano app as well. The in-app camera is a welcome update.

Hi,

thx for the update news. I tested nearly each pano-app and at the end I decided Panoramatic for the "best". Have you ever tested/tryed this app, too?

Its a good app and a useful upgrade but what it really needs now is onion-skinning, so you can see the overlap when shooting images. Then it would be near perfect.

iFranky. You recommended Panoramatic. Does Panoramatic take vertical panoramas? I'm really disappointed in the new version of Autostitch since they removed the preview strip at the bottom of the selection screen. Now, there's no way to easily remove a mistakenly selected photo or add extra photos to your selection. I've reverted back to Autostitch 3 and I'm now looking for another panorama app.

Hi, yes it does! Have a look to the screenshot at the App Store (yellow / black icon) Give it a try, I like it very much and the results are great - in my opinion ;-)

iFrankly. Thanks for the recommendation. I downloaded and played with Panoramatic 360 and, although the interface is a bit clunky, and the instructions not too clear, I found it to be superior to the new version of Autostitch. I especially like the realtime level guide.
