PixelWorks, FREE for a limited time

PixelWorks is an interesting and surprisingly impressive little app that I had previously missed when it was first released back in October, and for a limited time it is available for FREE, so go grab a copy now.

With an easy to use interface, PixelWorks lets you apply one, or mix of 12 different filter effects, that you can leave as is, or reveal parts of the original photo by using your finger to brush away the effect, just as you would to reveal colour with an app like Color Splash. Having applied the effect, you can then add 1 of 12 frames to your photo, before saving at full-res to the camera roll, or sharing via email, Twitter or Facebook.

I've not downloaded this app yet as the review section seems stacked with glaringly obvious FAKE 5 star reviews. Read these first before bothering with the download. I usually try to steer clear of my app that seems heavy with fake reviews.

@Max. Do you think this app would be on the blog if it were a scam app? You should download and try it, who knows you might be surprised, as it's not bad, and for free you can't complain.

I'm with Max. There's about 10+ 5 star reviews that look bunk. The usernames are all very close. I downloaded the app anyway but I'd be watching those reviews.

I guess because I'm in the UK, I'm not seeing these 5 star reviews, and as such it's not flagging up as an obvious scam. The app is free, so it's worth the download, but would I pay the full asking price, probably not.

No, no Glyn, I wasn't second guessing you whatsoever. Knowing that not all reviews are visable in all countries (not sure why this is) I was simply adding to the discussion, that's all. Sorry for the confusion.

Carry on...

on the topic of the app, the UI is almost identical to Pixlromatic app, so I am guessing one or the other helped create it. and Pixlromatic is a fantastic app recreation of their online desktop version.

Truth be told, after downloading it and putting it through its paces, it's not too bad. I don't see myself using it that often however for FREE it is worth downloading and finding what works for you. It does appear to save at full res which is key.

"I don't know...give it a shot."
