On the 15th November 2008 @ 1:21PM, I launched the iPhoneography blog, posted my first article, and a new genre in photography was born ("iPhoneography"). That was 3 years ago, and what a 3 years it has been. In my first post I said "I firmly believe that as Apple develops the iPhone, so the camera features will improve, and along with the 3rd party apps, the iPhone will become more than just another snapshot camera-phone." This could not have been a truer statement, as in 3 years the iPhone has gone from a low-res 2 megapixel camera phone to an all-in-one 8 megapixel camera/processing lab that fits in your pocket, that easily competes with and blows out of the water many of todays digital cameras, and is the number 1 camera used today on Flickr.
Well a lot has happened over the past 3 years, with many apps coming and going, the scams, the real bricks and mortar gallery exhibitions, competitions and gallery calls, the introduction of the phenomena that is called Instagram, and iPhoneography and the blog growing in popularity and strength every day (when I launched this blog, I had no idea how popular it would become, or what an impact it would have on my life, and this is all down to you the readers who regularly read and comment on my posts, encouraging me to drive the blog forwards and upwards). So what for the future of the iPhone and iPhoneography? Well unlike 3 years ago, when it was obvious to me that the iPhone would eventually match the quality of modern digital cameras and become the most used camera in your pocket, the future is not so easy to predict, but you can be sure the iPhoneography blog will be here to chart the progress of the iPhone, the growth of iPhoneography and all that evolves around this new and exciting genre of modern day photography.

I suspect that it'll be onwards and upwards in iphone land. I'd guess that they'll be putting better lens and chip technology in the thing while the processing gets even better as the processing chips in the phones get more powerful. At the same time of course we'll see compact camera's and the like developing iphone like characteristics with in built processing and downloadable apps......
