When is a FishEye not a FishEye? When it's FishEye Toy Camera

FishEye Toy Camera is a new FishEye emulation app from established and trusted app developer misskiwi. misskiwi is well known for providing good quality toy camera apps for the iPhone, and FishEye Toy Camera is no exception. Simple to use, FishEye Toy Camera lets you take (not load) photos that create the impression of having been taken with a FishEye lens, but without the extra angle of view of a real FishEye. Having taken your photo (either with the front or rear facing camera), the app lets you apply one of 10 different colour effects before saving to the camera roll at high quality (not full-res).

The Pro's and Con's of a FishEye app

Whilst FishEye apps are cheap, they can not produce the same ultra wide angle of view of a real FishEye lens, but if the angle of view is not important to you, just the distorted look, then an app solution like this one should do the trick.

What do I think of FishEye Toy Camera?

As I've said, a software solution can not match that of the real thing, but that said, if it's the look that you want and not the angle of view, then FishEye Toy Camera ticks that box. The only thing I'd like to see in an update, is the ability to import photos from the camera roll, but other than that, this app gets my thumbs up.

I'd like to see how it compares with the iphone lens systems (Olloclip etc). I would also like to see: Olloclip or similar used in conjunction with FishEye Toy Camera...

Thanks

hi glyn. thank you for posting on this app so promptly. i have long been a huge fan of misskiwi's apps. but since the recent upgrades made for ios5 and their corresponding ui and even filter changes, i have downgraded all apps except squara. hence i'm on the fence with this one. although i've always loved misskiwi's apps for the pure fun toy camera experience, i too would like to see the option to use photos from the camera roll. i'd love to know your opinion of the filters included in this app. otherwise for fisheye, i use a previous version of an app called bubble face (free), that allowed full resolution saving, ad free. there is also a full resolution fisheye filter in an app called photofriend (free) that i find quite usable.
