About iPhoneArt.com:
iPhoneArt.com launched in Santa Monica, CA at the end of 2010, and was quickly listed by Mashable.com as one of the top 10 most essential iPhotography sites while still in its infancy. Since then, IPA has grown from a small group of collaborators to a community of artists, thousands of members strong. Today it is a place where iPhoneographers come to discuss their work, collaborate with one another, learn about apps, and share what they have made. The IPA community is built around the idea that all artists can improve their craft by engaging in discourse with others, by offering critiques and comments, and being open to receive them. It is a place where long-term artistic relationships are created, where the more advanced artists mentor and encourage those who are new to the field, where each day offers work that is surprising and new, and where the artists are serious about helping one another advance to a higher level of artistic achievement. For all those willing to share themselves and their work, IPA is a unique and welcoming community that offers a great deal back to its members. The founders of the community are dedicated to creating exhibition opportunities, financial support, international recognition, and promotional opportunities for its active members.
About the founders:
Daria Polichetti received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She was born in Afghanistan, raised in Africa, India, Thailand and Hawaii, then finally settled in Los Angeles where she has spent the last 7 years as a Director of Photography and VFX Producer for feature films. Over the years she has worked on visuals for a long list of projects including The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with David Fincher, Standard Operating Procedure with Errol Morris, Sherlock Holmes, Splice, Iron Man, Valkyrie, Orphan, and the notorious Broadway play, Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark where she worked with director Julie Taymor as well as Bono and the Edge from U2. But Daria’s true love is writing and illustration. She is currently working on her first illustrated novel for young adults: Walby & Sticks. Samples of Daria’s illustrations and info on her upcoming books can be seen at http://www.dariapolichetti.com/books.
Nate Park received his BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied the craft of film editing and sound design. Nate moved to Los Angeles in 2005 and began a career in film, editing dozens of main title and visual effects sequences, honing his sense of photography, storytelling and design while working on long list of films including Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, Sherlock Holmes, Across the Universe, Seven Pounds, Superman Returns, Spider-Man 3, Iron Man 1 and 2, and countless others. Besides film, Nate’s other love was basketball. But while recovering from a career ending knee injury and 2 surgeries, he discovered the wealth of creativity developing in the new medium of mobile art - drawing parallels between his FX work and this emerging medium. This discovery ultimately inspired him to cofound and develop iPhoneArt.com with his partner, Daria, though he continues to train and manage young NBA prospects, staying involved with the game
