ProCamera, now bigger and better than ever
Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:14AM |
Glyn Evans ProCamera which in my opinion is one of the top 2 all-in-one camera replacement apps (the other being Camera+), has just been updated to version 3.5, and with it comes a new interface with fresh new look. Alongside this new look comes the following new features and enhancements:
Codescanner: Scan QR, DataMatrix and EAN codes and get context sensitive options to use them quickly.- Videozoom: Record videos with high quality zoom. (Zoom is applied after the video has been recorded to ensure maximum video quality with 25fps.)
- DropBox Integration: Upload your photos to DropBox - and if you want - simultaneously to Flickr, Facebook and Twitter.
- Facelift: ProCamera’s interface now has a new fresh look!
- New Preview View: Inspect taken photos in detail before you save them. Now with 8x zoom.
- Green Mode: Energy saving mode for longer battery life.
- ProCamera Settings: Completely rewritten and restructured settings.
- Copyright: Add your copyright information to the metadata of all photos (EXIF) and videos.
- Visual Timestamp (in addition to the non-visible EXIF data).

I love the features of ProCamera - the fact that it focuses on the camera/video without trying to have everything else - no need to include the kitchen sink, just make sure the bench works perfect :)
One thing I notice and I haven't tested yet but photos taken in portrait still appear in landscape on the PC - is this normal? Little frustrating having to find all these images and rotate them all when I transfer them...
If you like filter effects you may prefer Camera+ but for shooting I think ProCamera has the best set of tools and the better interface. I could do without the new QR Code reader so I turned it off in the settings. That way, one press of the switch camera button toggles between still and video like the previous version did.
