Ripped from Reality

Ripped from Reality is a new app from the developer of Tonaltopia, and one that adds a new dimension to your photos. Available for the iPhone, iPad and Mac, this app lays a sketched version of the photo either on top of, or underneath the original photo, then based on the options chosen, you can tear the image to either reveal parts of the photo, or the sketch. The app also lets you customise the rip direction, the paper texture, as well as the pencil outline and shade, and rip shadow.

Having ripped your photos to your hearts content, you can then save at full-res [iPhone 4 tested], or share via email or Facebook, as well as save your ripped effect as a custom preset.

If freehand ripping is not for you, then the app has 15 preset rip effects, like slashes, hearts and squares to help get you started.

Ripped from Reality is available from the App Store, for the iPhone or iPad, and is priced at £1.49/$1.99/€1.59

Hi Glynn,

I love the sound of this app so am grabbing it on your recommendation ... as I've done many times before :).

One thing the developer doesn't do is plug the Hi Res for iPhone on the App info page or their website. They've actually made it confusing by calling their iPad version Ripped HD.

I've given up buying apps that don't save in Hi-Res, so thanks for the info!

@Stephen, the HD versions mean that the app is designed for iPad only and it actually frustrates me because it's seems very greedy.

So many apps work on both which means I don't end up with 2 versions installed and/or paying for 2 copies.

I won't buy this app because of the above and also I don't think I'd get enough out of it for £1.49 - seems more of a £0.69 app personally...

Well worth & worthy of buying & adding to your collection.
Be creative & make something interesting, or combine with another app & show further creativity. Ripped from reality app is developed by 2 creative & young developers who work along side of Michael of JixiPix (VintageScene, Grungetastic, SimplyHDR & Dramatic B&W etc) They are creative, learning & thirsty for knowledge. Their 2 apps thus far speak for themselves... QUALITY! So I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you purchase this app & have some fun. The detail of effect & texture is fantastic!

Its only the iPhone version that's on sale :( IPad version is full price (£1.69). Pity I would have bought it at the sale price if it was an iPad friendly version.
