I am a bit unhappy about this competition. The rules seemed to have changed from what they were originally stated. Apparently according to one of the emails, I have to do social marketing for this in order to be more eligible to get 'on the short list'. That's not an art competition, that's a marketing drive and popularity contest and it has nothing to do with art.

Hey Kate,
surprised to see such comment as it is not completely true. As stated in the rules - the winners are chosen by the organizers, BUT we will also take the public opinion into consideration, so if any photo gets a good number of social shares, the author of the image will get a prize and increase its chances to get featured in NYC. We have already picked 200 images for NY, 150 chosen by us and 50 got the most number of social shares. Not sure if your picture is among, you can give your real name or email at atsepko@macphun.com and I will check. Cheers.

I'm glad to hear that if that's how it worked. One of my acceptance emails stated this:

"Second: Ask your friends and other people support you by sharing your pictures via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+. You will find share button below your submission on the contest site.

Why this is important. The more votes you have, the bigger are your chances to get in the short list. Plus, if your picture gets the most number of votes, you will get free OLLOCLIP and other great prizes. Good luck."

I didn't know what the short list exactly meant, but I assumed it was to get into the gallery.

My name is Kate Childers, I had 5 images accepted. Thanks for your response.
