New Video App: Game Cam

This is a slightly unusual name for a video editing app, and the apps description is lacking in substance, but this is what we know...

Game Cam is a video editing app that has the following 7 video effects.

  1. Black and White - Great way to create videos that look like 60's films. Interesting black and white tones.
  2. Burt Copper - This preset contains warm highlights and cool shadows. Try this artistic look!
  3. Gray Gradient - Generally, you want to balance brightness between two areas within a scene. Use gradient to create dramatic sky!
  4. Double Gradient - Darker top and bottom on your shot. That trick can help you to stress your frame!
  5. Reds - Makes reds, oranges and some browns "up". Grear for earthtone rock landscapes. Be creative!
  6. Orange Gradient - Add orange color to the sky!
  7. Polarizer - Pop "up" blue tones. Amazing on sunny shots with deep blue sky.

The apps description does not mention if it supports HD or not, but based on feedback on the developers Facebook page (this is their only internet presence), it does not appear to support HD. In addition to the lack of HD support, there seems to be complaints of the app crashing, and imported videos seem to have no sound, something the dev has responded to, with the following comment.

"Sorry friends! In this version of Game Cam, we have many problems and not working the sound, unfortunately. Now we are making every effort to release Game Cam 1.1 and fix any problems. Please wait a few days to download the corrected Game Cam. We'll upload videos together Game Cam 1.1"

Based on the comments, the feedback, the apps bugs, and lack of sample videos, I would recommend avoiding this app for now, but it may be an app to keep an eye on.

I really like the black & white--but without sound it's crippled. And at 480, it's even more crippled. I can get cool b&w (though heavily stylized) with 8mm, and in real-time, too. The most annoying thing, however, is the slooooooow processing time. Slowest I've seen in a video app so far. I really hope they fix this (and the lack of HD, lack of sound & crashes). I'm keeping an eye out for an update.

Btw. yesterday i've seen some nice clips on Vimeo. Taken and edited with the beta version of an own Vimeo app. The recorded sound is great there and the processing very fast. Guess there won't be amazing effects but it's nice too see how much there's happening in the movie app market right now.

Sorry, but I can't help but noticed some glaring misspells.
Otherwise, great write-up! I would probably wait until the update comes, I'm sure you will do another post for that, right?

@Chris, thanks. That's what happens when you copy direct from the developers app description without checking the spelling. I will correct when I get back to my computer.

@Glyn, anytime mate :)
Btwy, can I ask you a question. Where do you get a list of apps that are running promotion? Or is that a secret? :) I would love to get this list.
