App Update: TiltShift Video

TiltShift Video, the excellant app from developer Fidel Lainez has just been updated to version 2.0, and what an update it is, with new functionality, enhancements and bugs fixes.

So what's new in version 2.0?

NEW FUNCTIONALITY

  • TiltShift Video is now a Universal App. You can run it in your iPad and enjoy the optimized user interface for easier than ever TiltShift Videos.
  • Added the option to send feedback about the App.
  • Added a visual cue that informs where the blur area will start to fade out to the “in focus” area.
  • Added a new blur template: Ellipse!
  • Added the possibility to adjust the image brightness.
  • Added the possibility to add vignetting to the image.
  • Saturation and Contrast settings have been modified to allow negative values. You can now experiment with B&W TiltShift Videos!!!
  • Added support for several new video resolutions. The complete list of supported resolutions is (16:9) 1280x760, 960x540, 640x360, 480x270 (4:3) 640x480, 480x360, 192x144.

VIDEO PROCESSING ENGINE

  • Improved blur: The blur generated by the App is smoother, without artifacts and with better quality.
  • Optimizations in the processing engine make it faster than ever.
  • The video processing engine now adapts automatically to the different parameters selected, avoiding unnecessary rendering steps. This results in improved performance.

USER INTERFACE

  • All the user interface has been reworked to make it cleaner, faster and easier to use.
  • Redesigned “Select Video” interface. Now videos are organized according to the Events they belong (or the Camera Roll). Only those events with videos are shown by the App.
  • The image adjustment screen has been redesigned to incorporate two new image settings (brightness and vignette). Also, it has been optimized for performance.
  • Modified the tooltips for easier reading.
  • Avoided unnecessary rendering calls when navigating through the App. This results in faster transitions.
  • Added a button to remove the music selection for the video, in case you change your mind.
  • The Select Song button gets now different descriptions depending on the selection status.
  • The interface for selecting songs now displays the duration for each song.
  • The preview section of the Blur Adjustment screen has been optimized to give a slightly larger image.
  • The top left button in the speed adjustment screen now returns (after confirmation) to the main menu. This is to have a faster way to cancel the process.

FIXES / OPTIMIZATIONS

  • Optimized the “Select Video” code. It is now faster and uses less memory.
  • Tweaked the starting default values that are applied to saturation and contrast when editing a video.
  • Better error control when no videos are found and/or when the App has no access to the Photo Library.
  • Fixed a rare error that would cause errors with videos depending on the resulting duration and audio selection.
  • Modified how the audio is being processed to grant greater compatibility and to ensure the ability to sync back the resulting videos to the photo library from iTunes.
  • Audio now exports in stereo.
