News: Camera+ 2.2 update coming soon

I've just been contacted by the developers of Camera+, with news of version 2.2 of their excellent camera replacement app.

Amongst the updates is a new scene mode called Clarity, which they describe as being a "1-tap image enhancement that makes photos look stunning" and that it "blows away just about anything Apple does with their HDR and doesn't have the issues that go along with multi-exposure HDR like alignment, etc."

I've been fortunate enough to test this out this update, and I have to say, as my test photo shows, this new Clarity mode is impressive.

I'm not sure when this update will be available, but you can be sure it will be covered here on the iPhoneography blog.

Above is the original photo, taken the with default iPhone camera app. Below is the same photo using the new Clarity scene mode, whilst the last photo is the original photo processed with my new favourite app "Dynamic Light".

Very cool, guessing that's what the secret update is.

Will this setting only be available on the iPhone 4? Surely the 3Gs camera won't be up to scratch?

I really like Camera+ and looking at your example I must admit I will probably use the clarity option a lot... Also, I this the grass looks awesome in the last pic but the sky looks really bad and fake... Whereas pic 2 has the best overall result, just look at the brick work, sky ad grass - looks pretty good...

Really looking forward to the update now...

Camera+ has a lot going for it. It's my favourite app. It's a shame they put so much effort into the analogue effects, etc. Clarity seems like an excellent addition, but we'll have to see how it works in reality.

The bottom picture just looks so fake. It's just unpleasant. I don't understand why anyone would think this was good.

Am I the only one that cannot take a picture with Dynamic Light? Post-processing works fine with a pic from the camera roll, but if I try to use the camera function it fails every time. I take the picture, select use, and am presented with ... nothing. There is the possibility I am doing something wrong.

I'm really surprised they let you post these kind of details since their own blog was very secretive about the big awesome update. But hey, I'm glad. I hate app-suspense haha :)

Ah, not surprised anymore. Noticed earlier they posted a peak at the new feature too.
