Make your world small, with Tiny Planet Photos

Glyn Evans "Turn your photo into a tiny planet!"

Some of you may have seen these photos on the iPhoneography Facebook page, whilst some of you may not. Well today Tiny Planet Photos, the free ad-based app I used to create these interesting images, hit the App Store.
The App
The app is really easy to use, simply launch the app, take or select a photo, then choose the effect, either "tiny planet" or "tiny tube" and wait. The resulting photo can then be either saved to the camera roll at a resolution of 1000 x 1000 pixels, emailed, copied or share via Facebook, Tumblr or Twitter.
What the developer says about Tiny Planet Photos
"It's a classic for landscape photos, but also works great on all kinds of other photos from book shelves to portraits of people."
What do I think about Tiny Planet Photos?
I think this is a great app that can create interesting images with the right photo, and whilst it would be nice to see it support full-res, for an app that is free and as unique as this, I can live with the 1000 x 1000 pixel low-res output.

There seems to be a problem with the app crashing, which I have just reported to the developer. Hopefully it wont be long before we see a fix for the crashing, but until then I have found a reboot of your iPhone should allow you to process and save an image.

The quality is good near the center, but the heavy stretching is too much for the 3Mpix camera on the 3Gs. Maybe pics from iPhone4 will look better.
I had fun with it, especially when I imported it into other apps and I gave my planet pictures a vintage look.
Cool to have in the iPhone!

It's a fun app. Occasionally it crashes on me (iPhone 4) but just restarting it solves the problem. I haven't had any problem with the ad blocking the control area.
The app now works as it should for everyone.
