Rollei 8x telephoto lens for iPhone 4 coming soon

If you are in need of a telephoto lens for your iPhone 4, then you're in luck, as German camera manufacturer Rollei have just announced, that their new 8x telephoto lens will be available at the end of April. Weighing in at just 45 grams, and priced at €34.95 Euros, the Rollei 8x telephoto lens comes with a mini/table top tripod, tripod mount, and bespoke protective case for mounting the lens.

At present, information on where this lens can be purchased is limited, with Rollei just saying it will be available commercially, but rest assured, as soon as I have more information, I will update this post, so if you are interested, then stay tuned.

For more information, check out the translated Rollei website here.

It's available on Photojojo.com. I have one and it's amazing! They also have a macro, a wide angle, and a fish eye lens for iPhone. It's a great site.

Hi Glen, Sorry to hijack this comment form, but I have to make you a compliment about this blog. I recommended it to my girlfriend when a friend of mine linked to here. At first I didn't intend to subscribe ("Nah, do I really need one more blog in my reader?") but then I changed my mind. I really have to say you're doing good work here. So keep it up, the good work.

Initially I thought this would be a great addition to my reportois for iPhotography, however seeing the example shots on photojojo (thanks for the link JuJuBe714) I'll be giving it a miss for several reasons:

1. Every photo in the example photos has a tilt-shift-esque edge to it, whether it should have or not.
2. There's a weird colour bleeding effect on the zoomed images (could be software related however)

On a positive note however it does look as though it zooms better than a digital zoom, although that's not difficult.

This is a zoom? Thought it a fixed 8x. Looks interestingly like an 8x I got from USBFever. All plastic so optics not totally optimum but if you need a telephoto (fixed) for your iPhone it works and that is about all. My kit came with all the accessories mentioned but did not have the name Rollei on it :(
