I am curious as I see more and more photos that are being shot with a canon or other high end camera, edited with photoshop, uploaded to the iPhone, then uploaded to flickr and cast off as an iphone image (shot and edited). Below is an example of a photo that was selected this week.

@mrfubar32x, thanks for the feedback, but which photo are you referring to?
April 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterGlyn Evans
@mrfubar32x, I found the offending photo, and will deal with it when I'm at my computer.
April 18, 2011 | Registered CommenterGlyn Evans
I am not a snitch. But I think the best thing about iPhoneography is the level playing field and I feel that it is lying or cheating when they are not following the guidelines of most iPhone groups or contests. Email me if you would want anymore information.

This and other offending photos have been removed and the Flickr group member has now been banned.

From this point forward any photos submitted that does not conform to the challenge rules will be deleted and the member instantly banned.

I hope people understand and agree.

@FubaR, I have found, removed and banned the offenders. Thanks for taking the time to post your comment and pointing out what I had missed.

That's perfectly fair. I agree with MrFubar. The fact that we all have the same lens and image sensor (and access to all the same cheap apps), is what makes this blog and the flickr group one of my favorite discoveries in the last few months. Keep up the good work, Glyn! I can't wait to see the challenge for May!

I don't wish to get anyone banned as more of people need to abide by the rules or regulations. I have a lot of contacts that do the same thing and as of recently.I love the images, they are great. But it just is not fair to the rest of thousands of applicant's that again stick to the rules that are given.

Seems like Glyn's gotten drunk on power and gone on a bit of a crazy banning spree... my three Hipstamatic photos obviously somehow fall outside the guidelines too.
April 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterStuart Sunley
Stuart what do you mean? I feel that all rules were clearly stated:

glyn.evans (a group admin) says:
04 Apr 11 - Welcome to the iPhoneography blog photo challenge. Each month I will set a theme for those who wish to take part in the challenge. At present there are no prizes, there will be no winners or losers, the challenge is just for fun. PLEASE ENSURE YOU TAG YOU PHOTOS WITH THE APP/APPS USED AS PER THE CHALLENGE RULES. - Thanks Glyn.

**** APRIL'S THEME IS "BLACK AND WHITE" ****

PLEASE NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY SUBMIT 3 PHOTOS PER MONTH.

IF YOUR PHOTO DOES NOT MATCH THE THEME IT WILL BE DELETED!!

Hi Stuart

Apologies, I deleted and banned you in error. I have sent you an email, and removed the ban, and would be please if you could resubmit.

Software Picasa 3.0 <------------------------------------------------------isn't that software editing from the CPU? maybe I am wrong. I do not want anyone banned or removed. I just think everyone should follow the rules of the group. I will start taking some pics on my canon and upload and edit on my iPhone and you can easily see the difference and/or I will take a pic with my iPhone 4 and edit in CS5 and again you will see a huge difference. Not trying to dig at it. Just saying...

If that's my shot, it was no doubt uploaded to Flickr via Picasa, but it wasn't edited using that program. I've decided to submit three different photos now in any case (for no other reason than I debated which ones to put on there in the first place), but I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle...
April 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterStuart Sunley
There is no hassle if you follow the rules. If someone is cheating then jumping through the hoops to make it into a group by breaking the rules is a hassle. I think you are fine ;)
April 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermrfubar32x
I am all for you being strict on the photos. I can't wait for the next contest... i'll stop being so lazy and post some.. here is my iphone photo blog www.davidkarvasales.com
April 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDavid Karvasales
I am the author of the photo deleted and the now-banned member, the photo is taken with an iphone 4, and then postprocessed with CS5 to sharp the image, is a crime? , i don not know which rule has been broken!
April 24, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterruhey
@ruhey

The rules clearly state:

1. All photos MUST be taken with an iPhone or iPod Touch 4G.
2. All photos MUST be edited on an iPhone or iPod Touch 4G, no computer edited photos please.

So in answer to your question, yes you and a small number of others broke the rules, with the worst rule breakers submitting photos taken with a DSLR.

Whilst I do not want to ban anyone, I had to draw a line in the sand and ban all that cross it.

The whole idea of the challenge is to show just what can be done with an iPhone and apps, after all we all know what can be done on a computer.

These rules also keep everyone on a level playing field.

Sorry you were banned, but if you promise to follow the rules, then I am happy to lift the ban.

i understand your position and i acept the rules, i did not know the second rule, so i posted the photo with no evilness, i have searched apps for the iphone that could reduce noise and sharp photos so i take the challenge to edit iphone photos without CS5 and 23" monitor.

Thanks for your understanding.

@ruhey, I have lifted the ban, so welcome back :)
