Trash your photos with ScratchCam

ScratchCam is a grunge like app that makes your photos look like someone in the photolab has just dropped your negatives on the floor and walked all over them, and done a pretty good job of scuffing and trashing them.

The app is easy to use, simply launch it, select or take a photo, then hit the randomizer icon found in the bottom right of the screen to have the app apply random scratch effects to your photos. When you have a look you like, tap the export icon to either save to Album or export to Flickr or Facebook.

ScratchCam Features:

  • GENERATE countless old-skool 70's horror flick influenced effects including: Awesome black and white variations; Wicked over-saturation & color shift combinations; Heaps of film scratch effects

Overall this is a nice app, with some nice styles and effects that does a pretty good job of giving your iPhone photos that grunged up, trashed look, with almost full-res support [saved file sizes are 2560 x 1913 pixels].

Sigh, another nice app with some nice features!

I wish someone or some company would buy all these apps/sources and bundle all these features into one single app. Shooting->editing->publishing=done.

I just don't like having to run through several apps adding effects saving-opening-processing-saving-etc-etc-etc.

Wishfull thinking I guess ;-)

Another vintage effects app?....well, ok, but, while I generally like the effects, I'm not a fan of auto/random effect apps. It takes the real creativity and fun out of the process. If you get a great result and someone says "Wow, how did you do that? Yeah, I just pressed a button." I'll stick to those apps that allow user manipulation of the effects and allow for layering of effects. Try PictureShow, CameraGenius, and PhotoWizard....maybe even OldPhotoPro.

Hey there,

Thanks Glyn for bringing ScratchCam to the attention of your loyal following! :)

ScratchCam was conceived with a very specific idea in mind but the great thing about the projects like this is that they can evolve and grow over time, so if you guys have any further ideas, comments or criticisms about the app then I'd love to hear them as I want ScratchCam to be the best app it can be.

The best place to leave a comment would be on the facebook page below, but I am also on twitter @stevoarnold or you could go via the contact page on scratchcam.com

I'm listening! :)

Why do all these camera apps that add film sprocket holes not crop or shrink the image so it is not in the film hole margin? Were the developers all born too late to ever see film?
