Glyn Evans QuikCam, previously known as QuickCam has just been updated, and developer Two Teeth Technologies [Josh Patterick] has listen to user feedback has cleaned up the camera interface and added "QuickPic" mode.
Below is a list of what's new and improved.
- New QuickPic mode to optionally shoot a photo by launching the app
- Updated UI - hopefully less ugly!
- In-app photo preview
- Lots of settings/info to explore
- Minor bug fixes and performance improvements
- Renamed to QuikCam

Editors comments: This app is a great replacement for the iPhone camera app, although it is let down by the low-res zoom feature, so if you don't use digital zoom, then turn it off in the settings, and if you do use digital zoom, then stick with the iPhone's default camera app when zooming is required.
If you want to read more about what I think of this app, then check out my thoughts here.

Now for some, hopefully constructive criticism:
1) The un-check zoom slider option doesn't seem to "stick". I come back to the app and the zoom slider is back.
2) The delay in video recording startup is too long.
3) Are there instructions / can you create instructions on how to use the focus lock, exposure lock and white balance lock features?
THANKS!
1) A fix for zoom slider settings not sticking has been submitted to Apple. Hopefully it will be available very soon. Currently it should stick I you don't kill the app on the task bar.
2) I agree 100%. Switching to video was very fast on iOS 4.1. Since it has slowed down tremendously. It is on our list to figure out.
3) We'll add more detail to our info page. In the meantime, here is how it works:
If any of the options are set to lock, the setting will lock after tapping the screen once or twice. A single tap will set focus and exposure and then lock settings. A double tap willset exposure separately and then lock settings. A triple tap will reset focus, exposure and white balance.
Hope this helps! You can email twoteethtech at gmail.com if you have further questions.
Thanks!
