Hipoflex™, an accessory for your iPhone 4

Here's another interesting Kickstarter project, called the Hipoflex™.

The Hipoflex™ is an accessory for the iPhone 4 to take pictures and record videos in a more natural position. It simply snaps onto the iPhone in either portrait or landscape mode. You can also use the Hipoflex™ as a stand for hands-free watching or recording videos, FaceTiming, surfing the web…etc

The Hipoflex™ can be used to:

  • take pictures and videos while holding the iPhone 4 in the same position you hold it when texting
  • take candid shots
  • record a lecture, performance or presentation when used as a stand: no shaking and no tripod!
  • prop up your iPhone 4 to watch a movie, use FaceTime or do some work

For more information or to pledge your support for this project, then head over to the Hipoflex™ Kickstarter page, but be sure to read all of the blurb, as the project needs funds, not just for the Hipoflex™ itself, but also for the app to accompany the device.

Perfect for "spy pictures". ;-) But i don't understand why there has to be a new app? "Almost DSLR" is already able to mirror and flip the preview while recording videos or taking pictures.

I don't see why an app is needed either. It's a mirror, as such will work with any app. That's the real advantage of it.

If you mount the Hipoflex on the head of your phone the preview will be flipped vertically. With an app which is able to flip the preview back, it's easier to compose and find the correct angle and so on ...

I understand the necessity for invention and innovation, I'm confused as to when this device would actually be useful. It's another piece to carry, it requires another app for the idevice, and it looks somewhat ridiculous. They say that necessity is the father of invention, however I can't think of a time when I've ever bought to myself that I'd like to take a photo with the camera in a ore flat position.

Hmm...another "pledge" product. Perhaps this is the way things will be done?? It does seem strange though.

I personally like it, & hope that a 3GS, iPhone 4 & a 5 will be made with replaceable interactive attachments all in one package & cost. But this whole "hey I have a new idea, gimme some money & maybe it'll see the light of day" isn't really my cup of tea so to speak. I'd suggest a bank loan & invest in yourself or find once manufacturing company to back you.

I think that one great thing about this product is the possibility to take pictures or videos of your children when they're doing something that you want to remember, but don't necessarily want to interrupt their actions by very obviously taking the picture or video. I never seem to get a good shot of my kids because as soon as I take the camera out or pick up the phone to do it, they start acting crazy or just stare blankly at the camera.
