From the developer: "Take proper, square photographs with 6x6. It's a reminder of the old 6cm (or 2¼-inch) medium format that was so popular with both amateurs and professionals using 120 and 620 roll film. Because it looks good."
Features:
- 1:1 image ratio (yes, square)
- What you see is what you take (no subtle "parallax effect", unlike many iOS camera apps)
- Framing grid to help you keep your verticals and horizontals where they should be (and a "split image" screen so you know where the middle of your composition is)
- Fixed focal length lens (no digital zoom to make your photographs fuzzier)
- No "retro" image-processing - old 6x6 cameras could take great pictures; if you want to mess them up afterwards (which is what exposure to the elements did to some old prints) then it's up to you
- One button
- (Oh, and a slider that lets you shoot B&W, if that's what you prefer)

Editors comments: 6x6 is a simple no frills app that does one thing, but one thing very good, and that is take square format photos with your iPhone.
Whilst £0.59/$0.99/€0.79 may seem like a lot for what is essentially a one trick pony app, 6x6 provides you with an accurate square format camera [what you see, is what you get], that saves at full-res [1936 x 1936 pixels].
