Book Review part 4 of 4: iPhone Obsessed, Photo Editing Experiments with Apps by Dan Marcolina

My 4th and final book in this book review series, is iPhone Obsessed, Photo Editing Experiments with Apps by Dan Marcolina.

Of all the books I've looked at, this one from Dan Marcolina is the most impressive. Dan skips on the built in apps and the sharing and social networking side, but instead concentrates on the manipulation processes. Each chapter is broken down in to themes, from grunge to HDR, and shows by example what can be done with each app, or combination of the apps that Dan has selected.

But this is not just any book, oh no, this is a fully interactive book, that will inspire iPhoneographers of all abilities, as each chapter contains a Microsoft Tag [App Tag, Tip Tag or Pic Tag], which when scanned with your iPhone and the free Microsoft Tag Reader app [App Store Link], will take you to the books dedicated website, where you can find related hints, tips or videos related to what you are reading.

And that's not all, whilst not available at the time of writing this book, Dan has an interactive companion iPad app planned, that will further enhance what is already the best iPhoneography book I have read so far.

Currently priced at $19.60 on Amazon.com or £14.41 on Amazon.co.uk, this is without doubt the best iPhoneography book I have read as part of my book review series, and with its learning and interactive approach, in my opinion is a must have book for any iPhoneographer, new or seasoned.

Great review Glyn it really is a great book. After reading your review I got the ebook (pdf) version. However some of the info is outdated - for example one of the authors favorite apps in the Grunge section is FotoMuse which is no longer available in the App Store. After reading this section and looking at the accompanying video I was all fired up and ready to download it and try it out - not! Oh well maybe it will reappear one day.

This book is available at Amazon's Kindle store for US 9.99. The app links work from within the Kindle app without scanning. The title is listed as iPhone Obsessed.

Glyn I agree, of all the iPhone books currently available, this one is my favorite. I am disappointed about the FotoMuse app no longer available in the AppStore. From what I've read the photographer (Gebhardt) worked with Web Urban but it was removed because of censorship issues. Not sure if that is true or not, but do you have any insight if the app would return to the AppStore because of the renewed interest? It looks like sn interesting app, it was already gone from the store when I got my iPhone. :(

This book, and the companion iPad app, are simply amazing. The tutorials are really helpful and in depth. As far as FotoMuse, I'm glad I got it when it first came out!
