Glyn Evans I recently reviewed iPhone Obsessed, Photo Editing Experiments with Apps, a book by Dan Marcolina, and awarded it the "rare" iPhoneography recommended award. Well now Dan has released a companion app for the iPad, which serves up over 90 minutes of video tutorials, and more.
This iPad only app that can be used in conjunction with the book, or as a resource in its own right, offers, just as the book does, an fully interactive multimedia experience to its reader.
Created using Adobe's Photoshop Touch SDK, the app lets you interact by swiping the pages from right to left, left to right, or up and down to reveal more of what the book offers. In addition you will find interactive buttons on each page, that lets you interact with the apps Flickr stream [allowing you to leave comments related to each sample photo], Dan's dedicated website, see before and after sample photos, as well as launch detailed video tutorials.
The apps unique interactive features include:
- Over 90 minutes of detailed video tutorials right in-line with the featured images.
- Pinch and zoom any image to see its full detail.
- See before and after of every image and leave comments on the main images right in the app.
- Over 50 App formulas to follow, 4 Bonus images from the book and 8 free custom High-Res composting textures.
- Additional surprise links are found on each chapter page.
- By rotating the iPad vertically, you reveal an interactive compendium of over 30 apps. With video overviews of the key creative features, Web Links Developer Site and iTunes download page.
- Many many resource links, personal stories and a live gallery of additional images by the author.
If you bought and like the book, then you will just love this extra content interactive learning resource, that priced at £2.99/$4.99/€3.99 [App Store Link], is a must have app for any iPad owner.

Thanks to all who took the time to enter this contest. It was a hard decision, but the 2 I selected as winners were:
@Donkey_Monkey with...
"I am obsessed about iPhoneography because my Iphone is everything but a phone to me: it is a Swiss army knife of the cellular world, a digital password to an analog dreamland, a toy camera emulator extraordinaire. Today it is a Polaroid, a Lomo, a Holga or Diana. Tomorrow a photobooth, a darkroom and printlab. It can emulate different types of lenses and films or glass plate. It renews my interest in photography by opening the door to a world of creative freedom."
...and @Robbie Kennedy with
"I am obsessed with iphoneography because I believe it has revolutionised photography. It has given anyone who owns an iphone the ability to create unique and interesting images using just their phone and a selection of apps, which can then be shared online, in print or right on their phone.
I believe if the likes of Henri Cartier Bresson or Gary Winogrand where still prowling the streets today, they would definitely be carrying iphones and using them as another tool to capture those vanishing moments."
Congratulations to the 2 winners, and better luck next time for those who did win this time around.
