App Update: Instamap

Instamap, the real-time Instagram browser that I mentioned back at the end of May, has just been updated, and is now a universal app.

Whilst this app offers the same core viewing features found in Instagram, it does offer some that aren't, like sharing via Twitter or Facebook.

So what new in this update?

  • Instamap is now a Universal application -you can run Instamap any iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)
  • My Loved Photos - you can now view all the pictures you've liked
  • Sharing to Twitter and Facebook
  • Open in Safari and Instagram (if installed)
  • Copy Image
  • Pull gallery view and hold to open Instagram into shooting mode (if Instagram is installed) - not available on the iPad
  • Bug fixes & other improvements

In addition to these new features, the developers of this app are also planning the following new features in an update due soon.

  • View profile of users when browsing pictures
  • Quickly view a user's pictures from his profile
  • Open a user profile in Instagram to follow a user
  • Subscribe to a user's photo stream
  • Ability to load older pictures in a subscription

IS ‘WHILST’ REALLY A WORD?
Categories: British Accent, British language
Thanks to @nattdabratt for this question.

YES! Of course it’s a word.

This is one of the words most often picked up on when accidentally dropped into conversation by a Brit in the US. And whilst I could have opted to include an official definition and a clever example, instead let’s listen to the infinite wisdom of Urban Dictionary…

Whilst:

A highly pretentious word used by people who try to sound intellectual.

A: I was eating a donut whilst drinking my latte.
B: Shut up, you pompous bastard.
