Price Drop: Splice - Video Editor

Splice, the popular video editor for the iPhone is currently on sale. Priced at half its regular price, Splice lets you join together HD photos and videos in an amazingly simple way. Add music tracks from your iPod library, sound effects, transitions, borders, effects (like Ken Burns, slow motion and fast forward), trim video and audio, narrate with your own voice, and much more.

I've not tried this app myself, but at this offer price, I must just give it a go.

If you already own Splice, then please leave a comment and let us know what you think of this app.

I've tried using splice for projects in the past, but a series of unfortunate events has led me away from this app. The first and most glaring issue is the time it takes to encode a movie. Often times I'd build my movie then let my phone run at night so it could finalize when I didn't need to use my phone. iMovie is a much quicker alternative with the same basic functions.

The other issue I have is the high cost for the in-app purchases. They are extremely over priced for what you get. There are far too many packs with just a few sounds that sound be combined for the same price of a dollar.

For the time being I'll stay with iMovie. While splice shows promise, I'll stick with what I know.

In my experience... iMovie renders movies very slowly and Splice is very fast (at least on an iPhone 4). My only complaint is the cost of the transitions.

Also, this paid version ($0.99 normally $1.99) just removes ads from the app. There is a fully functioning free version (which is the one I use). I've not bought any extras though because I rarely edit video on my phone. But for free, for those rare occasions that I want to it's a win.

FYI - I've never had a 720p video take more than a half hour to encode (usually more like 15minutes).

I need to know if this app allows the editing of the original audio track- the one that was recorded with the video.

I was recording a concert and as a noob, was unaware of the 4gb file limit. So when I started recording again, the second video I took had it's audio out of sync; I essentially have 6 seconds of video before the audio kicks in, however the audio has been "pushed up" to match the start of the video.

Does this app (or does anyone know of an app) that will allow me to move my original audio back to meet it's proper starting point?
