App Update: Hipstamatic 220 sneaks out

If you're a Hipsta fan and you check your app updates this morning then you'll find an update to your favourite app, Hipstamatic. This new version, 220 doesn't add any new films or lenses, but instead concentrates on sharing, with the following new features.

Family Album: Share your Adventures in Hipstaland

• Create a Shared Album with friends to have instant access to each others HipstaPrints
• Create Magic Albums which automatically fill themselves with HipstaPrints of people, places, and things
• Create Photo Albums of your favorite HipstaPrints
• Share to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr at the same time

In addition to these new sharing features, this update also includes the regular bug fixes and refinements.

What kind of news is this? It's just a copy & paste of Hipstamatic's update text. It would be great to get some detailed info. OK, I just checked it and there are a few albums in. One contains two shots I recently shared during a contest. All my other photographs are safe where they've been before. Uploading to the family album doesn't work for me - yet - I just get an error message "connection lost". Via Facebook connect I found 3 friends on Hipstamatic. There is no way to text them, the only possibility is to add them as contri hypes to the album "artists I love". These friends haven't any public uploads yet, so this album is still empty. I guess peole will fill this site with life quite soon. For now you can browse the "latest" album and "love" shots.

Interesting.

I am not sure I get the reason for this feature. Is it supposed to create a feedback loop of people sharing their pix and showing others how awesome Hipstamatic is, so they keep using it and buy the new lenses and films as they come out? Or is Synthetic saying that Hipstamatic is pretty much built-out, and this is all that's left to develop?
