Through the Viewfinder with TtV Studio Pro

TtV Studio Pro is a new app from Taplayer, the developer behind the TtV Camera, the real-time/dynamic Through the Viewfinder camera replacement app. Unlike TtV Camera, which only lets you take Through the Viewfinder effect photos, TtV Studio Pro lets you both take and load photos from the camera roll, and apply this interestingly unique look.

So what is TtV?
TtV stands for “Through the Viewfinder”, and is a technique, whereby you shoot through the viewfinder of an old camera using your modern digital or film camera and create an interesting looking framing effect, and it is this effect that both TtV Camera and TtV Studio Pro aim to reproduce.

The App
TtV Studio Pro is an easy to use app, that lets you either take or load photos from the camera roll and apply a TtV (Through the Viewfinder) effect.

Whether you shoot with or load a photo from the camera roll, TtV Studio Pro produces a square formated photo, with the camera providing you with a square framed view, which aids framing of the shot, whilst loading a photo from the camera roll frames the centre portion, cropping both sides, with no option to reposition.

Having loaded or taken a photo, you are presented with a simple, clean and easy to use interface, with the different viewfinder frames, brightness, contrast and opacity controls located across the bottom of the screen, giving you full control over the final look of each of the predefined viewfinder effects. There's even an option to convert each look to have either a sepia look, blue cast or black and white finish, by selecting the colour picket icon.

So what do I think of TtV Studio Pro?
Well despite the apps inability to move and frame photos from the camera roll, I really like this app, as it offers some really cool and unique “Through the Viewfinder” effects, and would happily give this app 4 stars

I thought the same thing last night when I tested it. My only other thing is the fact it's forced square cropping, as many TTV's are not square, but portrait & landscape. So as someone who HATES forcing a square ration... It was my only dislike in v1,0

According to "Appotography" blog the dev has used textures for which they have not sought permission to use:
"A few final words must be spent on the textures used in the TtV camera app: I could easily recognize some TTV textures released through Creative Commons under non-commercial license among those included in this app. After contacting the owners of the textures, I have gathered developers didn’t ask for permission to use the textures within their commercial app and they couldn’t be bothered crediting in any way the creators of the textures, either".

That post was regarding their first app Ttv Camera, not regarding this new app Ttv Studio Pro. Though that may or may not still be the case, lets hope since April & their 3rd Ttv app, that they hopefully have corrected this. as well if you knew the difference between they two apps, this doesn't use the same textures.

I have purchased TTv Studio Pro, and after a first approach, I have found him sour. I hoped in an app more complete in style "Lumiere", I hope that with due updatings can improve.

TtV Camera is for real-time effect Camera app, and TtV Studio Pro is for post-editing photography app.

The TtV Camera is not dead. We are working on new technology to improve the output resolution.
TtV Camera Pro 3.0 will be a new design and more features. And it will be ready after two months. Thank you. :-)

Thanks for clearing that up. I did like what the camera version produces but the output res was far too low for my purposes. However If that's the case with crediting the texture owners in the studio version I will probably purchase it now.

TtV Studio Pro will automatic produce full resolution image to Photo Album when saving it.

And TtV Studio Pro has 20+ new high resolution viewfinders. TtV Studio Pro can also support fine tuning the brightness, contrast, opacity and colorTone.
