Simply B&W updated, and now comes with more features

Above: Simply B&W with added film grain.Simply B&W, the new and excellent simple to use black and white photo app that is a cross between Vint B&W and MonoPhix has just been updated with some new and much requested features, like film grain and vignettes.

This small yet very important update contains:

  • Simulated film grain
  • Vignetting (black or white)
  • EXIF preservation(requires iOS 4.1 or later)
  • UI Enhancements
  • Bugfixes

This update has now left Vint B&W behind, and the new film grain and vignette features are in my opinion better than those found in MonoPhix, making this app one of the best in its class.

Simply B&W is fantastic & the new additions are excellent. I was never a loyal Vint B&W app user, as if an app is restricted & cripples post processing & using your own images to apply the effect... I simply won't use it! So with Simply B&W stepping up to the plate where Erik's Vint B&W flopped, this app is a welcome addition to your app collection!

Has anyone, beside me, experience problems with the EXIF setting? When saving the app complains about my location settings, yet under those settings Simply B&W cannot be found (and thus cannot be turned on/off).

@Fredrik. Just checked, and I've got the same problem here, so will email the dev.

I personally never use or allow EXIF info, but I will second (third) that it is not shown in location settings.

I'm truly sorry about this one. I just got home from work and am looking at this now but I think I know exactly why this is occurring(last minute change I made) and why I didn't see this in my final testing of V1.1. It should be a quick fix and I hope I can get it fixed, tested, and submitted to Apple tonight. I'll respond with more details in a bit. Thanks for the support,

-Brian

The EXIF bug was exactly what I thought it was. Just finished testing it and V1.1.1 has been submitted.
