Through the Lens of an iPhone, the Hipsta challenge

Week 1 of the Hipstmatic "Through the Lens of an iPhone photo challenge" is now over, and here are a few of the Hipstamatic shots that stood out.

Taking in the view (hipsta)

Poppies - Hipstamatic John S Lens - Ina's 1969 Film

Hope springs eternal. Day 235/365.

Let There Be Light

http://zehak.posterous.com/

Disappointingly this week I have deleted more entries and banned more entrants than any other week, and many of the photos that could have made this post lacked EXIF data proving they were shot with Hipstamatic, so if you want to make my list, then please ensure you stick to the rules.

If you haven't join in with the fun, why not read the rules here, then head over to the "Through the Lens of an iPhone" Flickr group and start uploading, but remember, no DSLR or computer manipulated images.

This is such an awesome idea! And I really love the photos posted. Maybe next weekend I can join the fun. :)

Would be great if the Hipstamatic recipes were included so that we can see how these were shot.

Glyn, thank you for selecting my image this week! A beautiful collection here, congrats all.

Rex, mine has the lens details on the tags, if you upload from hipsta direct to Flickr it automatically adds them for you.

James, thank for the nice comments on mine :-)

Thank you so much for featuring one of mine! (The lanterns, shot in a park. A "less is more" picture. And with less contestants due to banning, I finally made it! ;-)).

it' s a pity that at least 2 of the shots featured here have been posted on this website before, on july 13th in the showcase of ZeHak
i agree that they are great shots, but surely there are more hipstamatics in the flickr pool that are just as great and haven' t been shown before....??

@rakusribut I wanted to select shots not already shown on the site, but far too many of the shots submitted have no EXIF data, and so were excluded from this post, as I could not be 100% sure they were pure Hipstamatic. Hopefully next week we'll see some great shots that haven't been shown before.

Hi,

The problem I had with the exif, was that if you upload the photos with flickr app, they dont have the exif data proving that they were taken with the hipstamatic app. The exif only show the photos were produced with iphone. I just found out this yesterday when i read Glyn's comment about the photos lacking exif. So I uploaded another photo to my flickr account, directly from the Hipstamatic app, and only then, the exif says the photo was taken with Hipstamatic. I guess this happened to others to.

Living and learning !-)

@tamacSan I'm using FlickStackr to upload and view Flickr via my iPhone and iPad, and this app includes any saved EXIF data when used to upload.
August 8, 2011 | Registered CommenterGlyn Evans
sorry to keep going on about this, but where does flickr store the EXIF data?
is it the bit in the right column, where it says something like: this photo was taken on XXX using a hipstamatic XXX or whatever other camera was used?
or is there a way you can add the EXIF data when uploading a photo?
August 8, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterrakusribut
Hey Glyn,

I don't mean to sound like a dork, but how do you know if there's EXIF data on a photo, and how to ensure that it's always there? Is it a setting in my iPhone, or in the Hipsta app?

I don't want to be one of your pains in the xxx! :)

I do not have the hipstamtic app and so got banned because of the pictures i posted were not from that app is rather uncool. What abt the people who don't have the app. They were shot with the iphone though and posted via instagram. If that is the case on forcing people to by certain apps then I would rather not be in a group that does that.

@Stephen, thanks, the link is now fixed

Geez! People... This was a
"HIPSTA" Challenge...
If you did NOT HAVE HIPSTAMATIC then WHY would you even submit???
RULES are for a reason....duh.
It's like a contest I entered a few weeks back. The RULES plainly stated NO APPS to be used. But clearly people sent in highly appd images. WHAT? People can't READ anymore???

READ and FOLLOW.

If you don't have a particular app, then get it. Simple. Or just don't enter. Even simpler!
August 9, 2011 | Unregistered Commentergara
@Ravyn. These challenges are meant to be fun, and encourage you to take a photo with a given subject or app. If you don't have an app, then skip the challenge as per Paul Moore's comments when this months theme was announced "That's a pity. I only use Hipstamatic very occassionally for portrait shots and I always post process using other apps. Have a good August and I'll be back in September:) ".
