Photology, promises a better way to view your iPhone photos

Photology is billed as a "high-end Photos app that lets you BROWSE, ORGANIZE and SHARE your iPhone photos in a better way."

According to the apps description, Photology automatically splits your existing Camera Roll into events by date/time with detailed info about your images, as well as letting you sort your images into albums that you can share on Facebook, sync with Dropbox, and even password protect.

Key features:

  • IMPROVED BROWSING: See your Camera Roll like you've never seen it before! Photology gives you a visual diary, where you can browse your photos by the date they were taken.
  • ORGANIZE IN ALBUMS: Easily create and manage your own albums to sort your photos and videos.
  • PASSWORD PROTECT ALBUMS: For your personal visual life – albums have an optional password protection feature.
  • FACEBOOK: Share a single image to your Facebook wall, or upload an entire album. This great feature will then automatically upload every new image that you add to any Facebook enabled album.
  • DROPBOX: Enable Dropbox sync on any album, so you can sync your images and videos between your iPhone and your computers. Albums are also available at www.dropbox.com with the option of sharing your albums with friends and family via a public link. And you can even share albums between iPhones by connecting Photology to the same Dropbox.
  • TRASH: With Photology, nothing is deleted instantly. We’ve replaced “Delete” with “Move to Trash” just in case you have a change of heart, or need to work on your finger accuracy!
  • IMAGE INFO: When viewing an image, click “info” to display exactly when and where the image was taken, the file size, as well as pixel size.
  • ROTATE: If your image orientation is off and you just can’t get the right view without tilting your head, you’ll love our one tap image rotation feature.
  • VIEW OPTIONS: We’ve added a quick filter to view images, videos or both. You can also turn on/off time stamps on thumbnails and the lines with weekday and date.
  • SHARING: Easily share you photos via MMS, Email, Dropbox and Facebook.
  • SUPPORT AND TUTORIALS: We have included extensive support and help features in Photology. An introduction video and help topics makes it simple and convenient to get to know the app.
  • CAMERA ROLL INTEGRATION: An important note about Photology is that it includes the same Camera Roll and Albums synced from iTunes, just like the Photos app included with your iPhone.

I haven't tried this app myself, but if it works as described, then it could solve what is a headache for many of us.

This app delivers on its promises! It must be hard for Apple to approve an app that makes a joke out of their built in Photos app like this :) Can't wait to see how this one evolves! Very good start!!

Thanx for the tip. Just downloaded this app and it's great value for the money. Problem solved with the headaches of Photos as well as other great features like the sharing to Facebook (works well). I like the Password feature (have been looking for that a while). All in all; this is good shit, I recommend it :)

Should be a build-in feature of iOS

Would love to see an iPad version.

Just FYI: Emailed their support and within a day, received a very courteous response that basically said that an iPad version would be coming at some point (no specific date yet) and that it would be universal. So no reason to wait if you are at all interested in this app. From their professionalism to the fact that the app will be universal prompted me to buy today.

Finally!
Apple should already have this built in into it's iPhone.
I'm very glad to see a company who "get's it". I'm looking forward to see how the app develops.

-Thank you!

This app is worth purchasing for the fact that it sorts photos in a way that makes sense. Holy effing moly, how is it possible that the Apple Photos app always begins with the oldest photo instead of the newest? That drives me crazy! Hopefully, Apple will create a way for other apps to edit the camera roll, because that's the only reason I'll ever use the main photos app again.

So far, Photology looks like $2 well spent. For a version 1.0 app, I'm impressed.

HHhmmmm... After spending a bit of time with the app, I'll revise my previous comment. Photology crashes quite often on startup on my iPhone 4, and speaking of startup... it takes forever to launch. In fact, it actually has a warning on the launch screen that says it may take up to TWENTY seconds to launch. This app has a lot of potential, but v1.0 is slow and buggy.

Beware of suspicious and overly positive postings like most of what was posted above- go to apple's store on this app and read the reviews- most found that the app crashes, renames or loses files, strips location out or inserts locations into photos for other countries. And is just plain slow.

Although its a great idea, looks more like a beta than anything else. And apple has their photo roll system locked which is why you don't see tons of apps out there that let you move or rename files... so if this does it, it is probably doing a lot of things behind the scenes to achieve what it does.

I like the application of the same category PictShare.app

I really gave this a try, but it was very inaccurate as mentioned by others and it now won't run at all. A complete waste of money.
