The End: "Through the Lens of an iPhone" photo challenge

After a turbulent past couple of months, and despite my attempts to relaunch the "Through the Lens of an iPhone" photo challenge over at Flickr, I have decided due to continued issues, to call it a day, and have suspended any further submissions to this Flickr group. Over the short period of time that these monthly challenges ran for, we have seen some fantastic images (which can be seen here).

The final theme for these monthly challenges was "HDR", and here are my top favourites from the past week.

#DailyPhoto : #Picture worth a thousand words - Fate of a Friday night beer bottle

Moelfre

Auto Repair

Turton Reservoir

Red Wharf Bay. Anglesey.

stairway to heaven?

Palacultura

Whilst I am disappointed to be closing the book on this chapter, I will look at an alternative and more suitable way to host a photo challenge/contest again in the future.

Thank you, it was great while it lasted, group had really fantastic pictures.

But please explain, what happened? What are "continued issues"?
I would very much like an explanation.

I will really miss these challenges. They have been my main resource for ideas and ways to improve my iPhone photo skills and a place where I discovered many talented iPhoneographers Looking forward for new ideas Glyn..

I agree with Dimitris. I have really enjoyed participating in the contest. It was a lot of fun.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my view of the things around. Thanks for the chance to see the view of the others. I discovered beautiful and inspiring photos browsing through the pictures of some other contributors.

Looking forward to the future challenges.

I too am rather gutted about this piece of news, I find these challenges, as mentioned earlier, a really good way to push the limits and make me think about different ways of processing images.

I didn't get to a chance to get an HDR image done this month unfortunately but some really nice shots have come out of it :)

Hope you work something out soon mate, and if you need any help feel free to get in touch :)

Thanks for featuring my pics Glyn. Sorry to hear the challenge has been a pain! Its a shame as the monthly feature was a good opportunity to see some great work. I suspect running a Flickr group is a task in itself without the blog to look after too. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for chosing one of my photos as your favorite. I have really enjoyed posting and viewing the great pics every month. I will continue to go to your web site daily. Thanks for a job well done.

Amazing pictures! Can someone post a link to a guide or something on how to create images like these? I have proHDR but whenever I take a picture with it, it doesn't give the effect that the pictures above have. Is there a better HDR app or do I just need to do further editing afterwards? Thanks for any help.

Paden: I can't comment about other folks images but my black and white one of the stairway was captured in ProHDR. It looked HDR'ish to me but didn't have the hyper real sharpness and selective contrast of your more usual HDR images. So I stuck it in to snapseed app and added a DRAMATIC filter. I then put that image in to dramatic black and white app for the b+w conversion. I preferred the sky in the non b+w version though so I put both versions of the image in to FILTERSTORM and blended the colour sky in to the b+w base using a mask. Then I desaturated it all.....job done.

Paden I have tried to create a blog about how I created one of the images. It's my first go at blogging and not up to Glyns standard by any means as I normally only post pics. It's here and may help you. http://ladfromlancs.posterous.com/tutorial
