Create 1-click monochrome photos on the go with Monochromist

Monochromist is a new app designed to create "great Black and White Photography on the go" - app developer.

The App
Monochromist is very easy and simple to use, simply load (or take) a photo, then swipe your finger from left to right, or right to left to apply any one of the 17 predefined monochrome filter effects, then add a frame if you want, before saving at up to full-res.

Whilst Monochromist is a fairly minimalistic app, it does also allow you to set one of 6 predefined ratios, adjust the original photos saturation, brightness and contrast to create your own look, as well as let you add text to your photo.

What do I think of Monochromist?
Overall this is a nice app, that is great for those 1-click quick fixes, but if your already using something like Simply B&W, then this app will not add anything new to what you've already have.

I'd love to know what is your go-to app for black and white conversions. Is it an app made specifically for B/W or a general purpose editing app with great B/W controls?

For me it's Dramatic Black & White, Simply B&W, Spica & the B&W filters in Best Camera

I like sliders. In B/W apps I like sliders that adjust different color channels separately. That's my beef with Simply B&W, it's too simple. I like Monophix a lot but it drives me nuts that I can't zoom the image. From the review, Monochromist probably won't give me the control that I like. I find that I end up going to FilterStorm for B/W conversion quite a bit.

@Greg

If you like sliders... Try Dramatic Black & White by Jixipix it's excellent & has sliders for every aspect. And it's on sale at the moment.

Tmney, I actually bought it based on your first recommendation and the app store description. It's a pretty nice app. In my first test I wasn't getting the results I wanted to but I'll play with it some more. It takes time for some apps to reveal their strengths. I have a feeling this is one of them.
