Create the perfect family photo with GroupShot

GroupShot is a new app from developer "Macadamia Apps", that promises to "make your family pictures perfect."

As the developers points out in their app description, "If you try to take family photos, then you'll know that no matter how hard you try, you always end up with a few photos, and in every photo someone is either blinking or looking the wrong way, especially when you have kids." With this in mind, GroupShot promises to create the perfect photo by taking the best face from each of the selected photos, and then create the perfect "Group Shot".

it's interesting how many apps are good at helping people become lazier, instead of better, photographers. All these promises of picture-perfect magic without having to actually take the time to learn the art & to develop the necessary skills in locating, controlling & framing shots.
You can just fake it all.

comments in app store say that the output is lo-fi, can you confirm it?

Apps aren't designed to help anybody become better photographers. Most of the people who own iPhones, etc., are average-Joes who just want to make some fun and interesting things with their phones to send to their friends and family and to post of Facebook, not be photographers at all.

When people want to learn the craft, they'll go outside the smartphone realm and actually learn the right way. Then, when they're "pros," they'll use their smartphone as a fun, creative outlet that might even showcase things they don't normally do with their "real" equipment.

....so, you claim that the majority of iphone photographers, including many people who visit this forum, don't want (or aren't) photographers at all; that they can't correctly learn the craft within this "realm". That's pretty harsh & a bit insulting, & I have to disagree.

This looks interesting. A similar app is Doubleshot Photo, which could be used to combine two good photos into one, creating a larger group shot.
