FAKE APP UPDATE: The FAKE Camera+ app is now gone from the App Store

Good news, although I've not had any official word from Apple regarding this latest app scam, they have now removed the FAKE Camera+ app from the App Store.

Despite Apple's quick response to this latest scam, the question still remains, "what the hell are Apple playing at with their approval process?", especially as this scam app turns out to be the very same app that has recently been appearing under different names.

I will be following up this latest scam, and all the other scam apps with an email to Apple, and will report back if/when they respond, so stay tuned for more news as I get it.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't think Apple's approval process is as watertight as most people seem to think. I think there are many more scam apps in the App Store right now; we only know about the photography ones because it happens to be our area of interest. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

It's good that this particular scam app has been removed, but it doesn't bode well for the future of the App Store that it was approved in the first place. I'd be surprised if you got a meaningful response from Apple, assuming you get a response at all. As much as I love Apple products, they can be very arrogant and dismissive.

Hey Glyn, I just wanted to give you a pat on the back for fighting the good fight. It can be hard to make the effort when dealing with brink wall corporations. Either way your doing the right thing so well done. Keep up the good work with the blog, I check it in my feed every day!

Wow, I missed that one. Good job everyone! Really surprising how that fake app made it to the App Store.
