Create "near infrared" photos with NIR Color

This interesting app from JixiPix Software uses what they call "near infrared light technology", along with infrared colour filters to add violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red colours, and all their combinations back into your image. The combination is described as creating "stunning imagery with otherworldly and mysteriously atmospheres."

Priced at £0.69/$0.99/€0.79, NIR Color...

  • Works best on colourful landscape images
  • “Near Infrared” technology turns blue-sky dark and foliage light to make your image ‘pop’

  • Creates personal-favourite custom presets using the "Save Preset" menu

I like the way it's remapped the colours in that screenshot.

Related: older iPhones (pre-4S) didn't have an infrared filter from what I've heard. Has anyone ever tried using a filter to see if it can do actual IR photography?

I'm testing it. UI is, as usual, very good, randomize and adjust each option and color is a very important option included (sometimes, results can be "extreme-in-a-hdr-sense")...

If your using an iPhone 4S then be warned that this is only saving 2104 X 1400 ... not full Res.
But with that said I also would like to say that I really like this app .... it's a lot of fun and you can get some very interesting results that break away from the "looks" we're getting from most altering apps. I was pleased that you can use photos that are on your phone and that you're not restricted to only applying the effects to a photo taken within the app.

Marlene, NIR Color definitely supports full resolution for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. Go into the settings menu choice and choose "High". Right now it defaults to medium and I am going to change that on all our products (and future products) to default to "High".

Finally!! I've been asking around an snooping the app store for a month now looking for an infrared kinda app. Downloading this now for my iPhone 4, reviews and comments seems promising. :)

Thanks Michael ... after reading your post above I did find the setting to change the resolution to "high" ... I just didn't think to look in "Save" to find it. You have a great app and thank you for building in the high resolution save.
