Glyn Evans As the first week of 2012 draws to an end, here are my picks from this weeks submissions to the "Through the Lens of an iPhone" Flickr group.
To see the rest of the fantastic submissions, check out the "Through the Lens of an iPhone" Flickr group, and if you feel inspired and want to take part, then join the group, read the simple rules and start uploading, but remember, all photos must be taken and processed on an iPhone.

Thanks very much for including my Alien Sunset pic. Another excellent selection this week. The quality just seems to be getting better and better each week:)
I just got an iPhone for Christmas and though I have done photography with a regular camera I am new to this type of photography.
I love these photos but can you please tell me how these great effects are achieved? What app(s) are you using or is this post processing in something like Photoshop?
Thanks!!
Any idea which editing apps were (or might have been) used for #2 and #3? I've been to their individual pages on the Flickr group to try and see if the authors left some detail about how the layering effects were done, but no dice. Any idea? If not, a quick list of the top 2 or 3 apps for accomplishing something like this will do. I'm new to the more creative side of iPhone photography, so you'll have to forgive the token noob question. :)
Thanks! Awesome site.
Mark - there a literally hundreds of apps that people use to achieve the effects in these photos. Some are quite specific to a particular effect and some are more general editing apps like photoshop. Here is a short list of some of my most used:
Snapseed, Filterstorm, Scratchcam, photocopier, picgrunger, photofactory, slowshutter, photostudio fx, juxtaposer, iris.
That should get you started. Once you get going you will discover all kinds of other apps. Welcome to your new addiction!
