The Diff Lens Mount Case and Lens system now available for pre-order

In last weeks article where I revealed "what's in my camera bag", I mentioned that I was now using the "Diff Lens Mount Case" from DiffCase with my Schneider iPro lenses. Well the good news is, this new and improved, and in my opinion, the best iPhone case designed for iPhoneographers is available for per-order, priced at $34.95 USD direct from DiffCase.com. In addition to the case, Diff also have available for pre-order their very own 3-in-1 lens kit, priced at $49.00 USD, which consists of a wide-angle/macro combo lens and 180 fisheye lens, which has been designed exclusively for their new "Lens Mount Case". If however like me, you already own the iPro lens kit, or one of the many magnetic type of add-on lens systems, then for just $6.00 USD, you can buy a set of 2 lens adaptors, that will allow you to mount your existing lenses to this new case.

There are various options for new and existing DiffCase users, with prices from $41.00 USD OR LESS for case/lens upgrades to $84.00 USD for new case and lens systems. For a full list of available options and prices, check out DiffCase.com

This looks very cool. I love gadgets like this. My one complaint about my olloclip is that it doesn't allow me to use a case on my phone while I'm shooting with it. This case would alleviate that, but then my olloclip would be useless.

Glyn, I really would like to know if you thought the lenses with this Diff kit are better than the olloclip.

Thanks

Hey Gordon,

As far as I could notice, the recently launched DiffCage allows that. Please take a close look and confirm it for us (or not).

Has anyone reviewed the diff lenses vs. ipro lenses? I'd be interested in seeing whether it's worth it for me to purchase the diffcase and adapt ipro lenses--an expensive option--or if I should just buy the lenses and case from diff at half the price. Are the ipro lenses worth the price tag?

This looks great, but we are about 3 months away from the new iPhone and from all reports it is going to be a bigger phone. Obviously, the case will not work with a longer phone, but hopefully the investment in the lenses will not be lost with the new phone. I guess none of these items are hugely expensive, but people looking to upgrade phones should probably wait. If you are not upgrading, this seems like a great solution.

Thank you for the effort you put into this blog. I follow it regularly. I have liked your reviews on the Diff Case as it ticks all the boxes for what I want. I just thought I would let you know that I just ordered one. It has taken me ages to decide :-)

@MrMayface, @J Robert Hromas, as soon as my Diff Lens set arrives, I will review and compare with the Olloclip and iPro lenses.

@Chipper, I hope you like the case as much as I do :-)

This is a well thought out system except for one thing... if you want to use it with the Schneider iPro lens, beware as the adapters aren't well glued and come apart easily. In about two weeks, I've gone through four of the adapters and am very disappointed.

@Chris, that's very strange and unfortunate. Have you contacted Diff about this, as I've had, and been using the case with my iPro set for a few weeks now, and have had no issues at all.

@Glyn - I did and they replaced the first one to go bad with two more, but by the time they arrived the second of my original set broke free and then both new ones out of the packaging.

@Gordon, I was thinking the same thing. Having the case rotate on the lens axis would be great for both Autostitch and perhaps Microsoft's Photosynth , but that would be challenging due to volume buttons and the headphone jack.

I have this case [the first version] and love it.

So, two months later and no fixed iPro lens mounts as promised.

Chris, I can confirm they are working on a new adaptor. In fact, a test sample is on its way to me, to test, so you won't have to wait much longer :-)

Glyn, that is good news. I just heard back from them as well.

I have bought the previous version of diffcase for iphone 4/4s. The lids' hinges broke after 5 minutes. The plastic is of poor quality, the producer reduced to refund me the cost of the purchase. I do not recommend buying this. Also, no usable access to buttons.
