Correct your Olloclip lens distortions for free, with OlloCorrect

If you own the Olloclip 3-in-1 lens, then you will be well aware of the optical distortion the lens suffers. Well until now, this optical distortion has been something all Olloclip owners/users have had to put up with (or correct on a PC), but with the aid of new iOS app OlloCorrect, this distortion can be corrected right on your iOS device.

Free and easy to use, OlloCorrect lets you take or load a photo from the camera roll. Then from the simple interface, you simply tell the app if the image was captured with the macro, fisheye or wide-angle lens. Then all that's left to do, is tap the distortion correction button and OlloCorrect begins the auto correction process. When complete, simply save at full-res, or bin the image and start again.

As you can see from the before and after images below, OlloCorrect does an excellent job, and all for free. Despite the cropping (which the app has to do), this is a must have app for all Olloclip lens owners.

IDK but I do not mind the little bend it adds to the photo, specially in landscapes or outdoor stuff I like the twist it adds to it.

It also works on photos taken with the PhotoJojo magnetic mount lenses. A very handy app.

I wonder, is the picture above fully corrected? It seems to me it's much improved, but the horizon is still not completely horizontal.

@ George it looks like the photo also needs a very small rotation. There is not much horizon visible. OlloCorrect only corrects for the lens distortion, you'll need to use other apps to correct for rotation.

Huuuuuuuurrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

Been thinking about this big hole in the photography app world, where there is NO proper Distortion correction apps available. So so so so glad it, at least, exists now. Hopefully it only gets better onward.

Going to download it right now, as I take a LOT of pictures with the Olloclip.

However, it's a shame that the app crashes without doing anything 90% of the time, even when it's the only thing running on a 4S.

Thx for the awesome tip - I didn't know I needed it until I started using it this weekend.

Good one, I think it may help a lot for lens Distortion. If it works properly then I am sure it increases the clarity of picture. Nice effort, keep it up.

The latest update by the way has fixed the crashes for the most part. Works decent. Keep in mind that it WILL crop your image, due to pincushioning of the correction method. But hey.. :)

I just got my Olloclip Saturday and look forward to incorporating it with this app. Thanks for the post.

This app had been driving me nuts since it wouldn't allow me to save images. I found this on their twitter feed. Change this setting (I have an iPhone 4) and the app works great:

V1.1 may crash when saving on iPhone4S running iOS 5.1.1 Please disable EXIF support in the preferences as a work around. V1.2 is coming
September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBruce Lemieux
Hi Bruce,

Sorry about driving you nuts! We rushed out V1.1 because the app was crashing due to low memory. Unfortunately the EXIF code was new and not as well tested as it should have been.

It has been very frustrating because most people complain without ever getting in touch with our support. I note that you are not complaining - thanks !

Please review the app on iTunes.

Thanks,
Mark

Has ollocorrect been pulled from the app store?
September 24, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSteve Kostoff
Hi Steve,

Olloclip complained about the name of OlloCorrect. So I pulled it from the US App Store while trying to discuss this with Olloclip. OlloCorrect is still available, free, in other app stores.

Unfortunately Olloclip have been very disappointing in their attitude. We may pull the app and modify it to support one of the alternative add-on lens solutions.

I think the is really shortsighted of them.

Apple pulled the OlloCorrect app at the request of Olloclip. We will probably release a similar app in the future but it will not support the Olloclip - sorry. A company like Olloclip don't deserve our support.

Any alternatives now that ollocorrect is no more?

PS - Mark I feel your pain. It is a great shame that you are not allowed to make a mediocre product into a good one.
