Analogue meets Digital with the Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner

The folks over at lomography.com have recently launched a Kickstarter project to bring their idea of a Smartphone Film Scanner to market. The Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner has been designed to work with all iPhones and most Android based smartphones, and aims to offer a new and easy way to instantly scan and share your old or even new 35mm films.

For more information on this cool project, head over to Lomography's Kickstarter project page, which can be found here.

I searched eBay and found what looks like the product that the Lomography people claim to be developing via Kickstarter. See here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230901735467?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Is this a different product, or the re-packaging of an existing product?

Dan, Jim, as you have pointed out, there are already film scanners out there that do what the people at Lomo are trying to do, but the current products produce poor/substandard results. Now that doesn't mean that this Lomo attempt will be any better, but analogue is what they do best.
