Coming soon: Remix your photos with Repix

Repix is a new (yet to be released) app that offers a unique process that lets you easily mix/remix your photos with painterly effects.

There is little information on the apps full specs, or a release date, but the developer has uploaded a number of how-to videos to wet your tastebuds here on Vimeo.

If the app is as good as this video is, I'll buy it... :P
A fine example of effective marketing strategies.

I have been testing this for what seems like forever, through every evolution stage this app has taken. A few must have brushes are again missing from the current beta that were in previous ones... But they should (better) be back before it is released. It is a fantastic app!

The Norah Jones & DJ Qbert video demos show it off much better.

In music production sometimes people ask when is a remix not a remix - and the answer is: when it sounds nothing like the original song. I get reminded of that when I watch the promo video for Repix. Yes these are some nice effects, but some of the effects are so overboard that they deviate from the original photo to an extreme where it is not a photo anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love filters and I love filter apps, (analogcolor, hipstamatic, snapseed and instagram are some of my favourites) however watching this video makes me want to go back to my standard built in "Camera" app to take 'plain' photos again. The effects in the video all look overcooked. Of course people have their own preferences, but for my tastes - I like my food (and camera filters) cooked just right - NOT overcooked. I prefer classy, understated, usable filters as opposed to extreme tacky transformations.

Thanks for posting this, I'll be writing about this app real soon. I'm being sent a beta version if the app. I've also been told when the app will be sent to Apple.

Thanks again,

Tina L Rice

@Tina Rice ... so the developer told you when the app is being submitted to Apple, but all the developer will do is say "soon" (which he's been doing for many weeks) to the rest of us? Hmmmmmm ... don't much care for that sort of prolonged teasing .... too much and then I don't won't buy the app because I'm mad at it :)

I asked the author on Facebook when the app is going to be released. The answer came today: "if everything goes as planned, next week!".
