Create Perfect B&W photos on your iPhone or iPad with onOne Software

Known for their big boy photo editing apps, onOne Software have just joined the ranks of Adobe, Nik Software and Visual Supply Co (VSCO) by making their recently announced Perfect B&W desktop application available for iOS.

Perfect B&W features advanced controls, the ability to save personal presets, along with the now standard share to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Perfect B&W advanced controls include:

  • Adjust brightness, contrast, and detail with touch-controlled sliders
  • Get the effect of colour filters after the shot to enhance contrast and brightness of the details you care about
  • Replicate darkroom processes and get the monochromatic looks of sepia, cyanotype, copper, selenium, and more with Toner presets
  • Add grain, glow, vignettes, and borders

In addition to that apps editing features, Perfect B&W also lets you take pictures with the convenient in-app camera that integrates the essential iOS camera features, such as Auto Flash, AE/AF Lock, Volume Button Fire, and the Front Facing Camera. Also find Live Preview, Rule of Thirds, Shooting Mode, and Auto Save Colour functions to get the shot that you want.

I've not yet tested Perfect B&W for iOS, but it is available now from the App Store for the reasonable price of £1.49/$1.99/€1.59.

Create Lytro style photographs with FocusTwist

FocusTwist is a new app from Arqball that attempts to bring that Lytro style, refocusable photography to your iPhone

The app works by taking several images at different focus settings, and from these images create an interactive photo that can be shared via Twitter or the apps in-app feed, and refocused at the touch of a finger.

Whilst I haven't tried this app (this type of technology does not interest me), if it's refocusable photography that you want, then FocusTwist [App Store Link] priced at £1.49/$1.99/€1.59 should do the trick.
