The Diff Lens Mount Case and Lens system now available for pre-order

In last weeks article where I revealed "what's in my camera bag", I mentioned that I was now using the "Diff Lens Mount Case" from DiffCase with my Schneider iPro lenses. Well the good news is, this new and improved, and in my opinion, the best iPhone case designed for iPhoneographers is available for per-order, priced at $34.95 USD direct from DiffCase.com. In addition to the case, Diff also have available for pre-order their very own 3-in-1 lens kit, priced at $49.00 USD, which consists of a wide-angle/macro combo lens and 180 fisheye lens, which has been designed exclusively for their new "Lens Mount Case". If however like me, you already own the iPro lens kit, or one of the many magnetic type of add-on lens systems, then for just $6.00 USD, you can buy a set of 2 lens adaptors, that will allow you to mount your existing lenses to this new case.

There are various options for new and existing DiffCase users, with prices from $41.00 USD OR LESS for case/lens upgrades to $84.00 USD for new case and lens systems. For a full list of available options and prices, check out DiffCase.com

Among The Redwoods, a short film from DiffCase

This short film was shot at a park in Northern California with an iPhone 4 housed in a DiffCase.

Having used the DiffCase myself (see this video), and despite my original reservations about this case, I can vouch that the DiffCase mounts nicely to any tripod or dolly-slider, and allows much greater flexibility for iPhone filmmakers, than any other case I've used to date.

More information on the DiffCase can be found here.

The DiffCase, a follow-up to my quick look

Following on from my comments on the DiffCase, Jim Armstrong from DiffCase got in touch to let me know that they have produced the following video to address mine and others concerns.

Having used the DiffCase in anger, I can say that it performed extremely well. My wife managed to drop my iPhone from about 3ft and the phone and case stayed intact, and this past week I used it for a video shoot, and the light shade was perfect for the job. Whilst the DiffCase does still have some design issues (access to the connector is a real problem), I have found it to be a very useful case for shooting video and for providing good all-round protection, but it's still not quite an everyday use case. That said, this is a 1st generation design, and I look forward to seeing what the 2nd generation has to offer when it has been finalised and put in to production.

More information on the DiffCase, and how to fit and use it can be found here.
