App Update: Instagram

Instagram, the popular social networking photo sharing app has just been updated, bring with it some nice features.

In Instagram version 1.8 you will find the following new features along with reliability & speed improvements.

  • Above: Out with the old, in with the new. The new interactive comment screen.Double-tap on photos to Like them
  • Autocomplete usernames
  • New interactive comment screen

The double-tap and autocomplete are nice, easy features, however the new interactive comment screen may cause some confusion, as the ability to manage/delete comments made about your photos has been moved, and is now accessed by tapping the "comment" button itself, then slide your finger across the comment you wish to delete. If you want/need to manage/delete multiple comments, then tap the gear icon that can be found in the top right of the new interactive comment screen, to reveal all options.

App Review: PicFrame

Updated on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 5:15PM by Registered CommenterGlyn Evans

PicFrame from developer ActiveDevelopment, the same developer behind picfx, is a Diptic like app, but is cheaper and does not require an in-app purchase to enable different layout ratios, but what's it like?

The App

Launch PicFrame and you are presented with a choice of 16 layouts across 2 screens. The default ratio is 1:1, however you can select 3:2, 4:3 or 3:4 by tapping the ratio icon found in the top right-hand corner of the screen. It is here that I spotted my first niggle. If you select a ratio that is not 1:1, then the layouts do not reflect this change, for example if you select 4:3, then the layout view does not change, and you are still presented with 1:1 layouts, although if you select a layout and move forward to the photo picker stag, then the correct ratio is displayed.

Postagram, 1 month later

Almost 1 month ago Postagram, the Instagram related postcard service was launched, and as a launch special there was the chance of getting your 1st Postagram for free [regular price £0.59/$0.99/€0.79], and so like so many, I ordered my free Postagram. Today, and almost 1 month later my free Postagram dropped through my letterbox, and despite the very, very slow snail mail service [which Postagram have no control over], the Postagram is very impressive, and well worth the regular asking price. All that remains now, is for the Postagram iPhone app [App Store Link] to be made available outside the USA.
