If you are one of the many iPhoneographers who like shooting Polaroid effect shots on your iPhone, then you may like to know that there is a new app coming to the App Store soon, called PolaTaste.

As soon as the app is available I will be reviewing it and comparing it with the current crop of Polaroid apps, but in the mean time check out the demo video below.

New iPhone photography app: Photo Editing Test Patterns

A new free app has just been released for the iPhone called Photo Editing Test Patterns (App Store link). This app looks interesting for anyone wanting to use their iPhone to edit their photos directly on the iPhone using one of the many editing apps, as it contains a series of test patterns that can be used to test your editing app.

The apps allows you to do the following:

  • Check the photo editing app's settings. Make sure it uses the highest resolution.
  • Load the test pattern in photo editing app. Apply your favorite filter/effect.
  • Save the modified photo to camera roll.
  • Sync both the original testing pattern and modified one to your computer. Compare the image resolutions. Open them with an image software to full size and compare the quality.

I have downloaded, but not yet tested this app, but will in the next day or two and post a review.

The number of photo editing apps for the iPhone are on the increase, and today sees the release of Naked touch (App Store link), which offers all the standard features of other editor apps, but also allows you to upload your photos to Facebook, Flickr, and Tumblr.

This is not a cheap app, and the £5.99 price tag may put some buyers off, but it does offer the following features:

Edit, crop, and upload photos from your iPhone with pro quality imaging tools. Naked touch features an advanced hybrid 16/32-bit pipeline complete with sharpening, blurring, noise reduction, highlight and shadow adjustment, multitouch curves, brightness, contrast, white balance, and color balance filters. Upload your photos to Facebook, Flickr, and Tumblr, or export them back to your iPhone library.
