Kinotopic, the Cinemagraphic app gets a bumper update

Kinotopic, the app that lets you create Cinemagraphs (still photographs with minor repeated movement) right on your iPhone has just been updated. This bumper update which adds better community interaction and more functionality includes…

  • Profile editing for manual signups: You can now change your name, avatar and username, plus you can now update your password
  • Commenting on Kinos. It was very frustrating not being able to leave comments.
  • A new tab called Following. You can now follow other kino users and make sure you see all their work.
  • New tools for choosing the fixed part: select all, undo, redo.
  • Ability to disable the reverse animation effect at end of kinos.
  • Notifications (via email and via push) when someone comments or likes your work.

In addition to these updates, Kinotopic is available for a limited time from the App Store for FREE, so if you haven't tried this app yet, then now would be an ideal time to grab yourself a copy.

App Alert: Kinotopic is FREE for 1 day

Kinotopic, which has generated a lot of chat here on the iPhoneography blog is FREE for one day, today, Wednesday the 18th January.

Kinotopic is a young, fun and very promising app that allows you to create cinemagraphs right on your iPhone, and share them via Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, and in my opinion, and despite the negative reviews in the App Store, is definitely worth the download.

Create Cinemagraphs on your iPhone with Kinotopic

Kinotopic is a new and innovative app from Placehugger, that lets you create Cinemagraphic images on your iPhone, and then share them via Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook.

What are Cinemagraphs? Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs.

Kinotopic is easy to use, requiring just 3 simple steps to create and share your very own cinemagraphs.

  1. Create a 3-4 second static video, or use one from your camera roll, that contains at least one element of movement.
  2. Select and mark the area of the scene that contains the movement that you want to reveal.
  3. Let the app process your Kinotopic/Cinemagraph, and then share with the world.

Kinotopic is currently priced at £1.49/$1.99/€1.59, which for me, is an OK price for an app that offers something as different as this.

For ideas and inspiration on creating your own unique Cinemagraphs, then check out cinemagraphs.com, or you can see more of my Cinemagraphs here.

Update @ 14th January: You no longer need a Facebook account to use Kinotopic.
