It's Showtime

Over the next few months or so, there will be a number of high profile iPhoneography exhibitions in the USA and Europe, and just so you don't miss out on the chance to attend one or more of these events, here is a round up of what and where they are.

i.Phoneography - International iPhone photo contest

Today is the last day you can submit your iPhone only photos to this international iPhone photo contest, organized by Italy's Arteaparte, with the chance of being included in their first exhibition, at the Sixth Edition of the Contemporary Art day, which will be held at the FIAF Gallery Arteaparte on the 9th October 2010.

For more information on this event, please visit the i.Phoneography website.

Please note: Despite any possible confusion over the name of this competition/exhibition and website, the iPhoneography blog is not associated in any way with this event. Whilst I was one of the original jury members, I have now withdrawn my services from jury.

eyephoneography - mobile photography back into the world and onto your wall

This is a bricks and mortar exhibition being held at The Hub, Madrid, Spain, launching with the iPhoneography of Sion Fullana, Greg Schmigel, MissPixels and Marco La Civita.

The open event will take place on Friday 17th September, with the first exhibition will running until the 1st October.

For more information on this event, the organisers, and  the iPhoneographers, then check out eyephoneography.com

Pixels — The Art of the iPhone Coming To An Apple Store Near You

This is the big one, and congratulations goes out to Knox Bronson for securing this prestigious event.

Apple asked Knox, the curator of Pixels to produce a number of events that will be held at Apples larger stores across the USA and around the world, introducing iPhoneography and showcasing some of the artists who post on Pixels to the general public.

The kick off event will take place at the San Francisco Apple store on the 23rd September at 6PM, followed by the New York City Soho Apple store on the 29th October. Next up will be the Chicago Apple store on the 21st October followed by London (which I will be attending) and LA, although dates for these events are yet to be confirmed.

For more information on these and other Pixels events, check out Pixels — The Art of the iPhone.

OakBook Magazine, Pixels at an Exhibition entries wanted

Pixelsatanexhibition.com, in association with OakBook Magazine, is presenting a new exhibition of iphontographic images from around the world.

The gallery show opens May 8, 2010 at the art@theOakbook Gallery at 423 Water Street, Oakland, CA 94607 on Jack London Square.

Due to a thin response to the original call for submissions here in the San Francisco Bay area (a reminder that the iphontographic community is still relatively small, underground (we are going to change that!), and spread out thinly across the globe) we are opening up the show to the global community.

That would be YOU.

The rules are simple:

  1. Images must have been taken with an iPhone.
  2. Images, as always, must be manipulated only on the iPhone. If we discover an image has been manipulated on a computer, the artist will be eliminated from consideration. Please read the Submission Guidelines at PixelsAtAnExhibition.com.
  3. Please send only five images for consideration. If you have images on the site already you would like considered, just email me and let me know. Pictures that were in the Giorgi Show are not eligible for this show.
  4. While there is no entry fee, you will be responsible for making prints to hang in the gallery. If you need help with this, we will assist you for a reasonable amount.

If you email images please send them to submissions@pixelsatanexhibition.com and put "Oakland" in the subject line. If you use our app, PixelEx, please put "Oakland" in the photo name along with the rest of the title.

We will accept submissions starting now, until April 23. Selected Artists will be notified as soon as possible. This will be different from the first gallery show we did at the Giorgi Gallery, Pixels At An Exhibition, in that we will be choosing far less images and will be printing them in a much larger format.

Time is short! Please send in your pictures today!
