I recently reviewed MoloPix and raised some issues over this app. Well the good news is the developers of this app listened to mine and others comments and have addressed these short comings with an update. Now at version 1.1, the developers of MoloPix have added the following features:
Visual shutter flash when photo is taken (shutter sound coming in the next version)
Black and white option
Options to change the image frame color and remove the vignette effect
Can set to only take photos when the camera is steady
Application stability improvements
I have tried out the update, and I have to say these improvements along with a price tag of £0.59 ($.99) makes this app well worth having. One thing I commented on, and they seem to have missed on their list of improvements is the ability to save your photo, and then if you choose upload it to their gallery site. On the previous version you have no options to save and upload, you could only do one or the other.

If you read the review of Slideshow Builder, then you will know that one of the requested features, was to have the ability to add music to a slide show. Well the good news is that the developer has been working on this feature, and has just released this video showing the next version of Slideshow Builder with the ability to add a tune to your slide show.
I can't wait for this next release, which should be available in the next week or two.
If you haven't yet tried Slideshow Builder, then I still have a few promo codes left for the current release, so if you want to give it a try, then post you request in the comments below.
As always with these promo codes, you will need to have a US iTunes account to redeem them.
Have you ever passed your iPhone to a friend or colleague, and tell them to “swipe through the pictures”? Did they then look at you like you were crazy? Did they start to get tense as they were swiping the shiny screen, thinking that they were going to break something? Those days are over! Today I have the pleasure of reviewing a slideshow app for the iPhone, appropriately called – (ahem) – Slideshow Builder!
This Slideshow Builder app is really straight forward, allowing users to create an iPhoto or iMovie type slideshow on the fly – no heavy machinery required. The app sticks to a simple interface, which is appealing to all audiences, and has found a nice home in the photography portion of my iPhone 3g!
Creating a new slideshow is simple, click the add or ‘+’ button, which will bring you a menu full of selections. Here you can enter the name of your slideshow, presentation settings ie. repeat/shuffle slides, as well as set the duration time for the pictures to be displayed.
The really cool part about this app is that it has a Ken Burns effect for the slide presentation that we have all come to know and love! In addition to the Ken Burns effect, I use the ‘dissolve’ transition when putting together slideshows in iPhoto or iMovie, (and now Slideshow) as it allows the viewer to ‘focus in awe’ of your masterpiece(s), instead of being distracted by cheesy flip or rotating transitions (which are also included in this app).
To add pictures to your slideshow, all you have to do is simply tap the picture and it will add it. There is also a nifty counter located at the bottom of the screen that allows you to keep track of the number of slides added to the show. After clicking done, it brings us to the ‘Slideshow Properties” if you will. Here we can change the order of the slides in which they are displayed by pressing the mover button on the bottom (if that’s what its called), which is the second last icon, and dragging the photo to the desired location. In this option you also have the ability to delete a picture from the slideshow. By tapping the blue arrow icon next to each slide, brings us to a ‘Slide Transition Properties’ menu where you can make further changes to any individual picture in the slide show. For example, I am happy with the standard display time of 3.5 seconds for each picture in the slide show, however I really like the picture of the Tian Tan Buddha (Lantau Island, Hong Kong), so I am going to modify the duration of that specific picture to 7 seconds, so I can really marvel at it! Now the best part of the Slideshow Builder app, is watching the slideshow that you just made. Press the play icon on the bottom of the screen and show your work off to your friends!
The slideshow does display your pictures in portrait and landscape mode. By viewing the shot below, you might agree that it is best to view some pictures in landscape mode, as the crop in the portrait mode can be fierce! Overall, I had as much fun using the Slideshow Builder app on my iPhone 3G as I did taking the pictures. The interface is clean, no rendering time for creating slideshows which is really neat, and it allows users to display their work creatively when on the move.
The only drawback to the Slideshow Builder app, is the ability to add music from your iPod playlist. At first I considered this to be an issue with Apples policy, but then I remembered that Tat Tap Revolution offers this ability. Hopefully we will see this in an update down the road. Also, when using the Ken Burns effect, it does not give me the option to modify the display movement of the slide as it does in iPhoto or iMovie, it is more or less set to auto.
Overall, I give the Slideshow Builder app a 4 out of 5, and can be purchased through the iTunes App Store for $3.99 (£2.39)
Editors Note: If you like the look of Slideshow Builder, then I have some good news, because I have a stack of promo code for this app, so if you want one just make your request in the comments section of this post; but don't forget to enter your email address in the required field, and also don't forget to be able to use the promo codes you will need to have a US iTunes account.
