Steadycam and Steadycam Premium get new names

If you use either Steadycam and Steadycam Premium, then you may like to know that both of these apps have had a minor update to improve its orientation detection. In addition to this minor improvement, both apps have been renamed, and are now known as Darkroom and Darkroom Premium. Like their previuos versions, Darkroom is still free, and Darkroom Premium is still priced at 59p ($.99).

If you already have either of these apps, then the updates will be automatic, but if you are new to these apps then you can use the links below.

iPhone App Review: SteadyCam

If you have the shakes, struggle to take sharp photo's or need help in low light conditions, then grab yourself a FREE copy of SteadyCam (App Store link), whilst you can. This new app released today is free for the first 3,000 downloads, and whilst may not be an essential app, as a free app it is worth having, as it may come in use one day.

Despite having what I consider to be a steady hand (even in low light) I gave this app a go, and as the quick snaps below show, there is little difference with or with out the app.

That said this app has a simple yet functional interface, and once you press the "shutter" button, SteadyCam automatically takes the photo when your hand becomes stable, and saves it to the camera roll and readies itself for the next shot.

What will be interesting, is the price this app will go to once the 3,000 download limit has been reached, as Night Camera (App Store link), which is a similar type of app, and already on its 4th update is priced at the lowest App Store price of 59p. If SteadyCam remains free, then it will be the obvious choice if you are looking for this type of app, but if they charge for it, then it will be down to the accuracy and features that will set these app apart, and make one of them the winner.
