About a week ago the developer of Straighten Image made the app available for free for a couple of days, and so during that time I grabbed myself a copy. It wasn't until I flew in to LAX on my way to PMA that I got chance to test this app out. If I was being honest I grabbed the app because it was free, but never got around to testing, and even expected it to be yet another low-res app, how wrong I was.
The app itself is a no frills, one trick pony app, that lets you quickly and easily realign the horizon, and straighten out any crooked photos.
To use the app simply launch the app and you will be presented with an almost black screen with a circular button in the middle that says 'Open Image'. Tap on this, select a photo you want to correct and then use the slider and grid combination that you are presented with to make adjustments from -45° to +45° degrees.
Above: Click to open, grid/slider to straighten, tick to saveI was amazed at just how quick, easy and simple this app was to use, but the most interesting thing, and more importantly omitted from the AppStore description, is the save photos are upscaled, and so on my iPhone 3G, were saved at full-res. Now I'm not sure if this app saves at full-res on the iPhone 3GS, so if anyone has an iPhone 3GS and this app, then maybe they could comment on the resolution.

Above: The same photo without the slant, or loss of quality or file size, and then processed with Perfectly ClearSo what do I think of Straighten Image?
Simply put i think this app is great, and whilst it may be a one trick pony app, it does what it does, very well; and gets my recommendation.

Thanks to feedback from reader Deborah Lattimore, it looks like this app does support full-res on the iPhone 3GS.
